Angel Baby Shower ideas

I've never seen this board before, but you ladies seem to have some great ideas. I'll be hosting an angel baby girl shower mid January and would love any ideas from decorations to food. I'm thinking lots of white and of course pinks. For food I'm only coming up with dessert ideas, can you think of anything more substantial: Cupcakes w/ coconut Angel food cake Mirange Cotton candy Lady fingers Marshmellow fruit salad To drink: Tea Cofee Hot cocoa w/ marshmelows Maybe I should just call it a dessert shower. Please excuse typos and formatting...I'm on my phone. Thanks for your help.

My typical response is to make food that sounds good and you can make.  Don't try to make things fit a theme, but doesn't build a cohesive menu.  Use decor and invites and such to set the tone.

I don't see anything wrong with a dessert shower.  Just be sure you schedule at a time that isn't during a meal and be sure the invite mentions it's dessert only.  Even at that I would add just a few things to cut the sweet and at least one thing that is diabetic friendly.  I'd also be sure the mom to be doesn't have gestational diabetes.

Hi!  For Decorations... would buy lots of white feather boas and "angel wings" and halos for guests to wear (or maybe just the Mom to be) - I would look in the leftover Christmas sections NOW for Gold or Silver Garland to make the halos with.  In fact would look in leftover Christmas section for anything with angels for the favors or ideas.

 For Drinks... something blue (or pink) with sugar or coconut on the rim and call it something like Cloud Nine etc.

 For Favors... a CD with all of the different songs re: angel (Heaven Must be Missing an Angel... etc.)

There is also a movie with John Travolta about an unlikely angel that might be fun to watch.  (Its funny)

re: Food - desserts are great - but might want to include something more savory and hearty foods (just my opinion).  You could make everything white if you wanted to   (my heritage is part Scandanavian and could send you menu ideas re: our traditional "White Foods" Christmas Eve dinner.  Includes White Fish, Potato Soup, White Cheese and Crackers, White Crudite etc.

Have fun and please let us know what you do!  I love to see photos of different events.

After thinking about it more, what about a white chili, a few warm apps and maybe 2 of the desserts?

I would add one more soup- potato bacon like pp mentioned- and lots of breads.  I'd also forgo some of the all white theme to add a salad and some wraps.

I love the "cloud nine" drink idea.  I'd thought of a halo, but not the feather boa.  Great ideas.

I'll definitely throw in at least 2 white soups and some breads. Who doesn't love potato soup?

May I suggest Angel Wing Pasta Salad using Farfalle (butterflies) for the Pasta with lots of yummy fresh veges and Olive Oil vinagreette?

How about Ambrosia Salad?  It is made with tropical fruits marshamallows, sour cream and nuts.  Ambrosia was allegedly the nectar of the heavens.

I like the soups idea.

You could also do a pasta bar with Angel Hair pasta.  Have plain pasta on hand with a couple of different sauces - marinara, alfredo, olive oil.  And have some things that people can throw in: meatballs, shrimp, tomatos and basil.

Of course, a nice green salad and some garlic rolls.

You can stick with the white for a nice dessert display and any other decor.  White table cloths, white plates, etc.

Check Pier 1 for Angel Wing ornaments. They had them and I'm sure they are on clearance now.
