I hear it's snowing on the East Coast...? ;)

Is it really bad? We're still in NM where we barely have to wear a light jacket! Big Smile

We head back to NYC on Wednesday and i wonder if we'll make it home...

Re: I hear it's snowing on the East Coast...? ;)

  • Yes, it's kind of a mess. But, it should be fine by Wednesday.
  • I hear they're opening the airports today at 4:00.  It's a mess out there though.

I think they said 20" but this fence is 36":

  • I am in NYC and totally snowed in! They have still failed to plow my side street in Queens, and we got 2 feet in total. Hubby is a police officer and had to work a double shift overnight, and there were tons of stalled vehicles and blocked streets. Hopefully we melt off quickly! :) Stay warm nesties.
  • We are both stuck at home today. DH got a text telling him not to come but I tried to make it through the uncleared streets to the bus stop only to find everyone turning back saying that the bus was not running. Some had been waiting for over 1.5hours. Trying to take the dollar cabs was risky since first of all they were all packed, they had tripled their prices and lots of them were getting stuck in the snow on the uncleared MAIN road. What happened this time around? Why are so many streets still not clean?

There are theories of a Dept of Sanitation slow-down as a response to Mayor Bloomberg's layoffs earlier this year. We have seen one plow go down our street but it didn't really plow.  Not sure what they were doing, but there is still a large amount of snow on the street.  I have seen at least a dozen cars get stuck.  Not sure why people are insisting on driving in this stuff.

  • We got in yesterday afternoon at LGA. On time, but the taxi line was 2 hours long. A friend finally came to get us, so I don't know how long we would have waited. I called some car services, but they all closed down (even "Always Ready" taxi). I guess most taxis just stayed home. I don't really get it either, because this snow would have been cleared in a half of day in Wisconsin. You might not have got to work the morning after, but probably by the afternoon.
