Nook and the Phoenix digital library
I can't find the post now but I think someone (maybe Jayefay) said they borrow books from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library to read on their Nook. I got a Nook color for Christmas and I want to take advantage of the digital library. I think I must be missing something really simple because the books won't download onto my nook even though I have adobe digital software and it's listed as an adobe compatible device.
For those that do this do you download the book directly onto the nook through the browser or through a desktop PC / USB connection? Any ideas?

Re: Nook and the Phoenix digital library
Yes you can!
My Mum just got a NookColour for xmas, so I was helping her download from the library over the weekend.
The deal is, you can't download straight to the Nook. You have to do as follows -
Download the Adobe Dig Reader software on both your computer AND your Nook.
On the computer, download the book from PDL.
Open AD software on your computer and plug the Nook in to the computer using the USB cable.
Give it a minute, but AD should recognize the Nook and show an additional option on the left sidebar that says Media.
Now, all you have to do is drag the book to the Media line and it will copy over.
Click on Media to make sure it's in there.
Unplug Nook.
On Nook - go to your Library and click on the tab that says Files. The books should now appear there. You can save them to a shelf from that location.
Sorry that was a bit convoluted... It's really not that bad once you've done it the first time - and it only takes a second to transfer the file.
Hope that helps!
Thanks Jaye. I was 98% you were the one who knew about the PDL but I couldn't find the post where I'd seen you mention it.
Thanks for the step by step instructions. I will try those when I get home, I really want my library books.
Did you have to load ADE onto your mom's Nookcolor? I was looking at the files on the computer last night and I thought it was already on there.
You know what, it may have been on there already. I didn't check first, and went straight to load it. That's probably why it didn't ask me to use my login.
I'm really hoping that the PDL starts getting a lot more ebooks. It has a pretty good selection, but definitely nowhere close to the collection of some cities.
I got a Nook Color for x-mas too!
Surprise PL has a pretty decent selection of ebooks....

I have a little over 4k ebooks I can share if anyone is interested.
Within the next couple of days I plan to build a site that you can directly download from....
