new years day food traditions
i wanted to begin a tradition of black eyed peas and cooked cabbage (irish traditions) for new years day. do you have any traditions you already do? if not, are there any you wish to start?
also, if anyone has a good recipe for black eyed peas send it my way -- i can't seem to find one!

I always used to eat over my parents' that day; my mom would make a ham and potatoes & stuff, and have my cousins over. Last year Mike & I went over his sister's house and we had dinner with her and BIL, and his other brother was here from out west visiting. His sister made ribs & they were GOOOOOD. "Did you eat your pork and sauerkraut?" is like the most common question in these parts on NYD and the day after...and if you don't eat your pork and sauerkraut you'll be told that you will have bad luck for the year.
Chinese food sounds awesome...so does Japanese!
Hubby and I decided that for xmas next year we're getting a bunch of Chinese and maybe some sushi for our dinner with his dad and step mom. We'll recreate "A Christmas Story"
