So I got a nook for Christmas, pretty dang excited about it. --Thinking about upgrading it for a color, if I can.
So if you have a nook tell me all the cool things about it. Also we got my MIL a Kindle for Christmas, can we lend downloads to each other? --anyone want to do some lending to me!?

Re: E-reader's come on in
I got a Nook for Christmas too! I love it so far. I wanted that vs. a NookColor because it's an e-ink screen and not a backlit screen (which can cause eye strain). I figured if I wanted a fancy color screen device I would just go ahead and get an iPad which can do Apps and stuff. The regular Nook is just fine as an e-reader for me.
I LOVE being able to look up the meaning of words as I read. I also love that you can change the font size/style.
It is neat it plays music but I already have a Nano so I don't know how much music I'll listen to. Maybe I could download some Audiobooks? Hmm.
I put a couple of library books on mine and it worked really well. And they are free!!!! The only thing I've actually bought is the complete Anne of Green Gables set for $0.99. I'm not sure how the lend-to-a-friend thing works quite yet. If you find out and want to trade anything let me know. :-) As my library grows I'll have much more to share!
eta: I'm not sure if Nooks and Kindles can share books. Hmm. I know that you cannot check out library books on a Kindle...that is why I wanted a Nook.
1. nooks and kindles cannot share books
2. books can be lent only ONCE, which totally sucks
3. you can use your library to borrow books with a nook which i think is ultra sweet
4. i have a nook and i got lars the nook color for his birthday (christmas day). we actually were given the advice to set them up under the same email address so we "share" our library without having to use up our "lend me" on each other. i think this is an awesome piece of advice.
5. the nook color is SWEET. i have e-reader envy. however, we've had some issues getting it to connect to our wifi at home with our security settings and apparently this isn't an uncommon issue. my black and white nook has had NO issues connecting, so there's that.
That stinks. I can see why they do it but it still stinks.
So if 10 people read a $29.99 real book vs. 2 people reading the same book bought for $12.99, they are making more money. Hmmm. Smaaart, very smaaart.
I think it'll change eventually to being able to be lent out more. It's still the only e-reader that does any lending, so it's better than nothing, KWIM?
I wouldn't upgrade to the color. If I wanted one with a backlit screen, I'd just spend the extra and get an ipad, since it can do so much more.
Great points Strength! You're the go to gal for Nook it seems. I actually just got back from upgrading to the color nook. I have a new 2G Phone http://g2.t-mobile.com/ so I really do not need or want an ipad.
I am so glad you made this post as I am really looking at getting the Nook Color or another android bast e-reader. I love the idea how you can using it for kids books as well as adult books (great thing to have on the go with out lugging kids books around).
Let me know how you like it
