Cost & Time of Building a home in L.A.
Anyone have any idea on how much it would cost to build an average 1200 sq foot home from the ground up...and how long it may take?
Assume they are knocking down the current home to rebuild a new one.
I have seen a few homes being built in my 'hood and it seems the three I've seen have taken over a year. Do you think it's possible to do it within a few months (without being on extreme home makeover)?
Re: Cost & Time of Building a home in L.A.
I do not think that it is possible to do it in a few months for a few reasons. You have to get permits and inspections at different stages which take a while. You also have to think about ordering timelines. My FIL is building a home right now and he said that steal is back ordered for months right now.
We have been trying to get our house plan approved for an expansion since March of this year... and we have still not gotten the approval to even start yet.
Then once you get the permits it depends on the contractor. Some are more "timely" than others.. but for the most part... delay seems to be inevitable.
