How soon to bring down Christmas?
How soon do you put away Christmas? We put up our decorations up a little early, but we are hoping to move next month so the responsibility of packing the house is looming over our heads. Part of me wants to pack up the xmas decoarations sooner rather than later so I can focus on packing up the house. usually we wait until Jan 2nd, and my mom's we always pack up within a day or 2 after christmas.

Usually I take it down day after. This year my parents are coming January 4th and want to see everything (they are seeing our house for the first time too).
If I was moving they would DEF be down by now. Already, to save on electricity my lights are not on outside anymore. I will turn them on New Year's Eve and then when my parents come.
Normally I wait until New Years Weekend, but because I'm off today and on a big organization/cleaning kick, I've started taking stuff down. I've taken all the linens (rugs, towels, runners) down to be washed, and started taking down all the internal decorations. The tree probably wont come down till this weekend, same with the outside lights.
Personally, I think whenever you want to take it down is completely up to you!
I totally agree, I think the same applies to putting it all up.
Some years they stay up til New Years...but I took down the tree last night. I had some energy and figured I might as well take it down when I had the urge to. Otherwise it might still be up this summer.
Our wreath is still on the door though. I'll probably pull that tonight and pack everything up to move it out of the Baby's room (that's currently where we store things).
Last year we moved on December 22nd so we had to basically tear down the decorations even before Christmas. So this year I am reluctant to take anything down yet. But we'll probably end up tackling it once we're back in town on the 3rd. Maybe that will get me motivated to start packing up the house for our move in February too.
