Spa help for a visiting nestie?

Hello ladies!

I hope you don't mind my intrusion on your board.

I will be visiting your fine city soon staying near the air port.

I find myself with a free day to indulge.

Is there a spa in that area (or one with a hotel shuttle service or inexpensive cab ride) that you would recommend for a day of "me" time?

TIA!

Re: Spa help for a visiting nestie?

  • hhmmm... that's a tough one. How far into downtown phoenix would you be able to go?  Most of the Spas that I would recommend are in Scottsdale.

I've never visited the area before so I'm not sure what your public transportation situation is like?

I'm thinking respectable cost on cab ride since I'll be dropping coin at the spa.

Lay your best on me and I'll do the research for transport!  I don't even know how far apart Scottsdale and Phoenix are but I'm sure I can figure it out.

    Thanks!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I would recommend looking in the south Scottsdale or Tempe area.  That is not too far from the airport.  Most of the major resorts in the Phoenix area have spas.

Here is a link to the spa at The Buttes, which is in Tempe.  I have never been there myself, so I can't speak from personal experience, but The Buttes is a nice resort, and because it is in Tempe, it is pretty close to the airport (I think about 5ish miles?).  On the Buttes website, it says it is approximately a $20 taxi ride to the airport, so depending on how close you are to the airport, that gives you an idea.

Hope that helps!  There might be something closer to you, but The Buttes is what popped into my mind when I thought about resorts in the area.

  • Also, where are you staying?  Do they have a concierge desk?  This is the perfect thing to call them about and have them do the leg work for you.  =)

If no concierge desk, maybe call and ask the front desk.  I used to work front desk for a few different hotels in the past (one of which did not have a concierge desk, so we were basically the concierge), and you definitely get asked these questions a lot!  We had a data base in our computer with information like this, so they might be able to help you also.

  • I like Camelback Spa myself and maybe the have transportation from the airport since they likely have it for those actually staying at the hotel.  They have a great eating/relaxing area too and the grounds are quite pretty.
  • I LOVE me some Dolce!! I tend to go to the Chandler Spa but there's one in Scottsdale too :). Dolce has some awesome packages going on through Dec 31 and I'm sure will have new ones in Jan.

  • The Joya Spa at the Montelucia is incredible!  It's in Paradise Valley, about 8-9 miles from the airport.

Some other options are the Phoenician or the Royal Palms (such a gorgeous resort!), which are probably about 5-7miles from the airport.  Or the Arizona Biltmore which is probably 4-6 miles from the airport.

Whatever spa you decide to visit, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!
