House Hunters and Property Virgins on HGTV.
And it is NUTS what some houses cost. There were these houses that were costing 650K in California but if those houses were here in northwest Ohio, they would be maybe 120K!

We lived in a decent area in the Valley and around the corner from our apt complex there was a cute little neighborhood. A three bed, two bath, no garage, very small back yard...that back'd up to our complex, and maybe 1200sq ft was over 500,000. I think that's when DH and I knew we had to move home to buy a home....haha.
We love watching PV! I love the host she's so awesome.
I love them too. I can't stand it when they freak out about non-granite counter tops or a paint color though. So many people don't see the potential or deal that you can get from a house.
House Hunters Int'l. makes me depressed though. I don't see a 2nd vacay home ever in my future.
I used to watch that show all the time! Kind of burnt myself out on it. lol
I seriously could not imagine those kinds of prices. I'm so glad to live in a pretty LCOL area.
I know! I don't understand why they let their Realtors show them the houses over their budget. Obviously those houses are going to be a tad bit nicer. I actually think it is very irresponsible of Realtors to do that.
I watched a House Hunters last night where they had been looking at $250K houses, and then they saw a deal with no PMI and a slightly lower interest rate on a $320K house, so they went for it. Um... When C and I bought our house, we found a loan that allowed us to buy a house and not have PMI insurance, but we still wanted to stay in our price range because we wanted to be able to pay down our house faster since we were saving the PMI. Plus, like pp said, there is so much more to a house than the mortgage.
I also like Holmes on Homes. I want to find Mike Holmes to have him come do some work for us. lol
