Edmond Traffic

I have heard several times on here that Edmond traffic is bad? What parts? I live in Edmond and other than the potholes on the country roads and not expanding Portland, I don't have any complaints.

I avoid the Quail Springs Mall area.

Re: Edmond Traffic

  • The only part that annoys me is where Broadway extension goes into Edmond around 33rd.  It always takes at least two waits at the light to get through the damned intersection.  Other than that, it's not really too bad in my opinion.  But I only go to Edmond for Cottonwood Spa and a few visits to friends.

  • I agree with Brittney about the same intersection. I think the parts that people say have bad traffic are actually north OKC not Edmond.
  • I don't see it either (and I have lived in both smaller towns and bigger cities.)
  • The thing that bothers me about Edmond traffic is how slow everyone goes. If it's 45, then we're going 30 on Broadway. The intersection at 2nd and Bryant annoys me because it takes so long to get through the light. It just seems like there's never an end to it...no matter what time of day it seems like people are out.

  • I hate everything along Broadway. It's brutal. I hate 2nd Street too.

And even though it's technically OKC, I hate Memorial. :)

  • Okay, I agree with some of those areas. I tend to avoid 2nd and Bryant unless I am going shopping there. One day, we cut across Edmond to get to I35 and took 2nd. That was painful; we usually take one of the other streets. I never really have a problem with Broadway, until you get to downtown Edmond, and then I cut over to another road to go north.

But I don't think it is any worse than 19th in Moore or Main/Robinson/Lindsey in Norman. Any major shopping area is going to get congested. Just like in Edmond, I had shortcuts to avoid those areas when I lived in Norman and Moore.

I wish they would expand Portland. Why don't they?
