This is not an entertaining question but a guest question that I was hoping the ladies on here might be able to help me out with.
The parents of a student of mine have invited my husband and I over for
dinner tonight. All along I was planning to bring a bottle of wine but
now I'm feeling a little awkward about it because I don't know if they
drink wine and because it's my student. Would a box of chocolates be
more appropriate? Any other suggestions?
Re: host/hostess gift?
I would not bring a bottle of wine especially if the student will be at dinner. Box of chocolates, some really nice nuts, flowers (or even a nice evergreen arrangement) could all work.

I think you're right to skip the wine. Chocolates and other edibles are fine. I tend to go light on those this time of year though because there is soooo much. A little plant or something would be lovely.
