When we went to my parents this Christmas, it occured to me that next time we would be going with Baby. We're thinking at 2 months old next summer for a "Welcome Baby" party in place of a baby shower which my mom wants to have.
The stroller checks at the gate for free, right? And then I was going to wear some sort of wrap, so I could walk with Baby around the plane. What do you do about the car seat? Ours can attach to the stroller as as a travel system (Graco), but does is have to be checked? I was thinking if it's $25 both ways like luggage, maybe Mom should get one or we could borrow one for the week. And our car seat comes with a base, but do we need the base too? And will Baby be OK sleeping in the carseat for a week, or should we try to find a pack n play?
Thanks gals. I know a lot of you travel with your babies here.
Re: Traveling with baby
So....when we travel by plane or train, I only wear him in the beco. At my parents - we borrow my niece's pack n' play and their spare car seat. At my inlaws - they have another car seat (we got two from friends so they have one and we have one) and they recently bought a pack n' play. We also got the Kidco Pea Pod travel bed, but have only used it a handful of times and I don't think Freddie ever slept in it. We usually just have him sleep with us. But, at only 2 months, baby could sleep on a large bed and not roll off. I don't think its good for babies to sleep in a car seat for even one night. I know some moms take the car seat and a snap&go. As for fee & checking at the gates, I'm not sure.
I think with the car seat it depends - some need the base to work in a car, others can be attached without the base.
