Virginia Beach? best place to rent beach house?

can anyone rec a good area to look for beach houses in VA beach?

I have never been here but my family would like to rent a house there for the summer...I am in Delaware and rest of family is in South Carolina so we figured this would be good halfway point.

TIA!

  • I highly highly recommend Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach, very family friendly area if you're just looking for a beach house.  Not too terribly far from the main strip of Virginia Beach by car; but the strip is more "touristy" if that's what you're after with restaurants and shops within walking distance.

But. Most locals love Sandbridge for the quieter ocean front space.  A good realty company to start with is Sandbridge Realty.

I've never personally rented from them but I know the Sandbridge area is my personal favorite for all things beach.  Have fun!

  • Ditto, Sandbridge. It's the best area if you're bringing your family and don't want to pay expensive Oceanfront Hotel prices in peak season. I know families who have been taking that vacation annually for 20+years.

    Enjoy!

  • Ditto Ditto on sandbridge. Way better than the Oceanfront if you are looking for a more relaxing, quieter beachy time. Lots of houses to chose from one or two restaurants in the area. Seems more family oriented. However, if you like lots of people (lots) and beachy shops with big hotels everywhere then Oceanfront is where you want to be. There are some good restaurants there too.
