creating your wedding

When you all were creating you wedding, how did you manage everything with out the stress and confusion. I am newly engaged and having a hard time figuring out how i want things. I need ideas. I know i want 6 people walking and my colors are red and a rust color. I don't have any idea of what to get my girls for their gifts beside their jewelry, and maybe some slippers. I thought about bags so they can put their clothes in to change into. That got a little to expensive. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: creating your wedding

  • how long until the actual wedding?  It's helpful to lurk on the message boards on the knot, or at least it was for me.

For my girls, I bought canvas bags and dyed them then used a stencil in a fancy font to put their names on (with fabric pens).  I put their jewelry in the bag, along with some odds and ends (kleenex, bandaids, tide pens, flip flops, etc.).

We didn't have a huge budget to work with, but most people don't.  Just do what works for you, don't worry about impressing people because honestly, 90% of the guests aren't going to remember (or notice) the details you will make yourself crazy over.  And that is my unpopular opinion :)

  • You should totally stalk some wedding blogs for inspiration. For me, the ideas didn't click until a few months before, but this was after reading blogs for a while. Here are my faves:

This! We need more details before we worry about the details. You said newly engaged, when is the wedding? What do you have completed so far?

    Lots of spreadsheets.

6 people walking is a lot.  You can cut down on stress by cutting that number, if possible.

Worry about gifts for your girls closer to the actual wedding.  If you just got engaged, you have bigger fish to fry.

What's your date?  Budget?  Guest list?
