Make me feel like a weenie
My sweet stripy boxer tripped me on our run tonight and I scraped my knee. Hurts like a b****. What's your worst injury? Scraped knee is about all I've had.
Re: Make me feel like a weenie
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
I broke one of my toes once, but there really isn't much you can do for a broken toe.
I also sprain my left ankle ALL the time. I've started wearing a brace more often to prevent it. The next time it happens, I'm going to an orthopedist.
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
Ha ha, yep! That's me! I thought "well, I can either walk home or run ... running seems faster." Got 'er done! My tights are not in such good shape though ...
The other day ... I realized you could get on the boards even when you don't have a log on and decided using my real name was ultra stupid instead of just mostly stupid. :-) Plus I just like to confuse you.
That's not lame AT ALL! That's hardcore! I haven't broken anything (knock on wood).
Ha ha ha ... that sounds like something I'd do. I'd be afraid to get on the treadmill again after that! Glad you're (relatively) okay.
Ouch! How long did it take to heal?
My mom is a big ankle sprainer ... she wears a brace for it. I used to do that a lot when I was younger (roll the ankles, etc.), but not recently. Again, knock on wood.
I never broken anything either. You running girls are hardcore.
I slipped in a boat once and managed to smash my hand. I grabbed the aluminum side of the boat and dropped a huge heavy steel piece of equipment on it. Luckily, I was wearing (an old) engagement ring and the sled hit the diamond setting just right. The ring prevented my finger from being broken. It did crack though and we had to use pliers to cut ring off of my swelling hand. That was a fun day...

Ok now that we got the screenname sorted out, I will share stories. I am NOT a runner, and never will be, so none of that shizz.
I've broken my pinky toe twice (once was my ex's fault, his flip flop strap snagged on my toe as we were walking and bent it completely backwards...YOW). The second time I don't know how it happened, but I kept re-breaking it. When I was younger I had a nasty bike accident that resulted in lots of scrapes, but the worst was a larg-ish rock that got stuck into my knee. It was very deep (to the bone in one place), and in retrospect I can't believe my mom didn't take me to get stitches. I still have a scar.
Six years ago I was walking my uncle's dog when she was still a puppy, but pretty big. She saw a squirrel and took off running, dragging me with her. The leash was wrapped around my wrist and I got all tangled up, so she dragged me halfway down the street. I was beat to hell - it tore holes in my jeans, scraped up my legs and arms really bad, sprained my wrist and left a giant bruise down the side of my hand and arm. It also busted open the hell of my hand, which hit the sidewalk first, and I was bleeding EVERYWHERE. I still have a very faint scar from that, but after about four years it was much less noticeable.
When I was in the 2nd grade, I had to get stitches on my elbow. How? From a toilet. Now the story. A bunch of family was down visiting and an aunt or someone was getting ready in the bathroom so me and my little cousin were sitting on the toilet watching/talking. The toilet lid had broken and the parents hadn't replaced it yet. Somehow I scraped my elbow back there and bled like crazy so we rushed to the ER. Oh and my grandma gave me a "towel" to wrap it with only to find out it was jacket. Ha
In HS, I sprained my ankle the week of homecoming practicing for the powderpuff football game. I was playing TE and the girl on the other team smashed right into me and my ankle turned.
That's it. No broken bones (knock on wood)!
Sledding with my friend freshman year of high school we started going way too fast down a hill of icey snow. She bailed out of the sled halfway down. I stupidly put my leg out to keep myself from hitting a tree at the bottom of the hill. I had buckle fractures in BOTH my tibia and filbula. My ankle became the size of a grapefruit. Cast above my knee was so heavy I couldn't walk with crutches so I was in a wheelchair in the middle of the winter before I gradually got smaller and smaller casts and went to crutches.
Once I got the cast off, I had to go to physical therapy. Physical therapy worked but limping during my recovery screwed up my knee. Sophmore year I agrrevated my knee again playing gym in tennis and ended up needing orthoscopic surgery to remove extra cartilage that kept getting stuck on my kneecap making it so I couldn't bend it.
I've also sprained my wrist a few times, had the wind knocked out of me from falling out of a tree, and I'm pretty sure I also broke my toe at one point but never got it checked out.
The stress fracture took a few months (probably 3) to heal, but of course I made it to state and kept "running" on it. My coaches told me that it was probably just shin splints and didn't care what my x-rays showed.
Also had the wind knocked out of me...once falling during skating and once in elementary school when a swing broke. That was a scary experience.
Nothing broken, and nothing too recent.
At the age of 1 and 1/2 I split my lip open bouncing on a trampoline, on picture day. My mom brought me to get stitches and while we were leaving I ripped them out - more stitches (I still have a scar in the middle of my bottom lip).
In kindergarten I cut off a small piece of my right pointer finger.Yup, you read that right. And not like it got stuck in something, or I put it in a fan or too close to a knife or anything. I literally cut it off with scissors. I was sitting with a friend and we were cutting crayons in half with safety scissors when she says "these will work better!" and pulls out a pair of kitchen scissors her mother, for whatever insane reason, packed in her bag. The school called my mother and said "Now she's okay, but you'll have to bring her to the hospital. She seems to have cut off part of her finger and we can't find the piece..." I wore some kind of horrible sweaty metal contraption for a while and it healed or grew back or whatever. You can't tell now, though.
And the last thing would be my big fall. When I was a freshman in high school I fell off a 15-foot beach wall. I was completely alone and landed on my back on a huge rock. I couldn't breathe for a while and had to lay in the wet sand for 10 minutes. Then I had to crawl the stone steps back up and two blocks back to my house. I can't believe no one saw me pulling myself along on the ground and came out to help. I still have back issues and poor Neely rubs it for me 3-4 times a week because it always hurts
Actually, I'll probably ask him to do it tonight...
