So we are trying to join a gym.....and we've narrowed it down to two. Coming from Planet Fitness, it's a big price increase, but I really want a gym with classes.
My options:
Option A: Lifetime Fitness....very convienent for DH...I'll have to eat dinner first then go workout because it's far from my job especially with traffic. It's roughly 15/20 min from home. They offer great classes and have an amazing center. They have a basketball court, rock climbing wall, towel service, sauna, spa. You get have to pay a $79 administration fee when you join, and it's $109/month and no commitment.ETA Lifetime has an indoor AND outdoor pool...with 2 hot tubs, water slides, and lap lanes...plus and open pool area.
Option B: Lifestyles Family fitness....it's 10/15 min from home...still not convienent from my job. There center isn't as glitzy, but they offer classes, and tanning. The sales rep is willing to make a deal with us. $35/mo for my membership which he will add tanning to for no extra cost and $20/mo for DH plus $20 admin fee. So about $55/mo total. The gym isn't in as nice an area.
If you have any info on either place that'd be great.

Re: Help Us Decide
will you even use the tanning? Tanning is horrible for you, so I would think you would want to avoid it while TTC and when pregnant.
why is the price for option B more for you than DH?
It is hard to say if either option is too expensive without knowing your budget.
I probably would not do option A, it seems expensive and inconvenient.
This. My SIL loves that class (and Body Attack). I've been with her to Body Pump once and I almost joined on the spot
I'm trying not to tan.
Option B is more expensive for me because the $35 is for use of all the gym equipment and the classes. $20 is just for use of the gym equipment.
Are you near an O2 Fitness? I'm a member and highly rec them. Not as $$$ as Lifetime but great classes and staff. My DH used to be a member of Lifetime when we lived closer to it and loooooved it. He's a swimmer.
I would not go to Lifestyle because I question the focus of a gym that also provides tanning. Not exactly health-minded of them if you ask me.
We tried out O2 fitness last night, but we weren't a fan. I felt like it was a lot of money for a very small facility. The pool hours were crazy because they share with another facility. You could use it like 2 hours in the morning, 1 hour on M/W evening, 1 hour saturday, and 2 on Sunday. It's crazy. Planet Fitness offers tanning too, so I can't necessarily fault Lifestyles for that. I really like Lifetime. We have a few more questions for them, so I'm waiting on the girl to hopefully call us back tonight. The way I see it, it's month to month so if we don't use it or it becomes too much money we can always cancel.
Is there a Y near you? That might be a good option--esp. if you get the plan that allows you to use any YMCA in the area.
We had a membership for a while, but we weren't using it enough to justify the cost.
