Favorite Cocktail?

So since New Years Eve is tomorrow and it's one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year, I was just wondering, what is your favorite cocktail?

Re: Favorite Cocktail?

  • So I'm horrible at ordering drinks, I never know what to get...so I usually stick to the basics. Currently my favorite is just a plain margarita, but I love midori sours too!

  • Margaritas . . . but I guess you could figure that out by my ticker :-)

A second would be a drink like a Tequila Sunrise, but use pineapple juice instead of orange. (Tequila, Pineapple and a splash of pomegranate mix on top- YUM)

  • Probably the White Russian. I seem to drink those a lot on special occasions at a bar (such as my birthday). You just gave me an idea. I think I'll buy a small bottle of Kahlua and some vodka and a half gallon of milk to take over my cousin's house tomorrow. =) That way I won't have too much of it and can drive home sober and avoid the "over-sugared tummy tear-up."

  • We bought everything to make chocolate cake shots...they are super good too!! The first time I had one I couldn't believe how much they really tasted like chocolate cake!

  • Actually the first year Mike & I were together I made pudding shots to take over his sister's house for NYE and they were a hit with his family [earning me some serious brownie points!]. My one SIL was saying how much she liked them and I told her I'd make them again this year......then she and Mike got into a HUGE brawl on Christmas night, so we won't be seeing his family at all tomorrow.

  • Yikes Cindy!! Hope things settle down with the family soon!

Kryssttle I had to go make myself a pineapple tequila sunrise after you brought this up :-) Thankfully I am not working today so I can indulge!

  • I find most drinks to be too sweet for me.  I am really just a big fan of either wine or champagne.  Oh, how I love champagne.

I had a champagne coctail once and really liked that, the kind with brandy, a sugar cube and a cherry

  • Oh how i love to make a good cocktail. Some faves:

    Pomegranite mimosa:

    1 bottle champagne or prosecco

    2 cups POM pomegranite juice

    1 cup OJ

    1/2 cup cointreau

Put all ingredients in pitcher and enjoy!

Cranberry Spritzer (this was a huge hit at christmas)

Bring 2 3/4 cup cranberry juice to a boil w/ 12 mint leaves, 2 tsp fresh rosemary, and 2 tbls sugar... remove from heat immediately, drain the herbs out, and set aside

    For each drink:

Fill hi-ball glass with ice; add 1 1/2 oz. white rum then fill almost to the top w/ 1/2 cran mixture and 1/2 club soda. Top with a dash of lime juice - enjoy!

(p.s. HI!!!! I haven't been on much lately bc I've been on vacation but had to respond to this post)

  • Chocolate cake shots are soooo good.

My favorite as of late has been the Appletini or Caramel Appletini. Either one I could drink a lot of.

Margaritas are my go to when I am not at a place that can make a good martini.

  • I'm mostly a wine girl if I'm out to eat or something...but I did invent a cocktail a few years ago, and I call it "The Allison"  or "The Dirty Shirley" (because it's basically an alcoholic shirley temple:

Stoli Orange (or any orange flavored vodka) + 7up + Grenadine Syrup + twist of lime

I also made champagne cocktails at a party recently, taken from a Sandra Lee recipe.  It was 1 part champagne, 1 part pom juice and 2 parts seltzer and lots of ice.  YUM!

The preggo girls are going to hate this thread LOL - sorry ladies!!!!

  • I wasn't even thinking about champagne tomorrow, but knowing my cousin's wife, I'm sure she has a few bottles to be poppin' out tomorrow night!!!! :)

  • I'm another who never knows what to order.  When we go out for Mexican it's usually a frozen classic margarita or mango margarita.

Other times it's wine or something basic like a hurricane.  At home I like apple rum and Sprite or a glass of white wine.  I tend to drink the fruity drinks anymore if it's not wine.

  • Pretty much anything with vodka! But in particular, vodka & peach or vodka & cranberry...and of course, good 'ol champagne!

  • Vodka & Peach??  Like Peach soda of some kind??  That actually sounds kinda good - I wonder if any place has peach Faygo - I can get Faygo anywhere in MI, I think, but the peach is as hard to find as the Rock & Rye.

My dear, you just gave me an idea!!!  And it won't be quite as sweet as the White Russian either, so may not upset my tummy.  Thanks for the idea - I'm gonna try it!!!

  • Dry red wine.  Definitely!  But if I must pick a cocktail: margaritas with lots of tequila!

At our Christmas party a few weeks ago, one girl brought whipped cream flavored vodka. She left the rest of what she didn't drink at our house, so I'll have to try it tonight. Anyone have it before? And have you tried the alcoholic whipped cream?

  • I'm a big red wine drinker, and drink that almost exclusively now when I feel like drinking. But, I really love a good vodka martini, be it dirty, apple, pomegranate, cosmopolitan etc.  I was really tempted to get one with dinner last night but since I can't even remember the last time I had one, I figured I'd get drunk instantly!
