Book Recommendation

I finally have a non-chick lit book to recommend!  Room is written from the perspective of 5-year old boy who is held captive with his mother in an 11x11 room.  It is somewhat troubling, but also captivating.  Just thought I'd share for you avid readers and new Kindle owners. http://www.amazon.com/Room-A-Novel-ebook/dp/B003YFIUW8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1293738784&sr=8-3

ETA: I still don't know how to make clickable links.  Help!

Re: Book Recommendation

  • ooh, I've seen list on book lists and have it on my list to read.  Glad to hear it's good, thanks for sharing!
  • I just bought this with my Xmas gift cards.  I have heard such good things about it and can't wait to read it.

  • I'll be putting this on my list, for when I need a break from all the romance!

ETA: It sounds a lot like "The Boy Called It" which was also terribly disturbing, but a great book overall.  It makes me sick that these God-awful people really are in this world and are capable of doing this to children.

  • I LOVED this book. I read it about a month ago and posted about it too. It was one of the best books I have read in 2010.

  • I think I have it on my Kindle. It doesn't seem like the kind of book I'd normally read. Scratch that, it does SEEM like the kind of book I'd normally read, but for some reason it just doesn't grab me. But so many people have recommended it that I'm going to give it a try.

I also believe it is the Nest Book Club board's reading club book for February.

  • I loved Room. I thought for sure the 5-year-old-as-narrator would be really annoying, but it was a really effective way to tell the story. I was reading it on the T, and I was so engrossed during certain chapters that I almost missed my stop.

  • Thanks for the suggestion!  I've been slacking on my reading lately, so once I finish a book I got for Christmas, I'll certainly have to check into this one :)
