Wedding Related Poll

Hi Girls... Sorry I've been MIA (somewhat.) I'm quite busy with work and a lot of changes are coming for me.  I have some questions for you girls...

1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.)

2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk?

3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?

4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."

5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?

I'm pretty much set on what I want to offer, but I'm just curious what was most important to you girls.  Your opinions mean a lot to me.  I'm really excited for what 2011 is going to bring for my business.

TIA!!! :)

Re: Wedding Related Poll

  • My wedding was 3 years ago....so I'll see what I can remeber :)

    1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) Multiple package options (with a CD) and also within my budget.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? I got a disk, thats what I wanted!

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it? It was part of my package.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." No, I beleive there was a hour limit, I think my package included 6 hours? After that it was X amount of $ per hour. We did not go over. But I beleive they had packages that we lower cost but with fewer hours.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  Well considering I never ordered mine (it was not part of my package), no I guess. I do think it is important for a lot of people and it was for me, but the months got away from me after the wedding and I never ended up ordering one. For me, the CD with high res pictures for me to print as I pleased was more important!

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) That the engagement shoot was included in the package and within our budget.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? Yes we did get a disk for both our engagement session and our wedding.  We didn't order prints through her but we did order our thank you cards.  I know some of our family and friends ordered prints through her as well.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  No, it was included in the package with a complete copy right release for both the egagement session and the wedding.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." Yes, we paid her to be there for 8 hours but only ended up using 6 and half to 7.  I just wanted to have that buffer in case things ran later then planned.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package? No mostly because I knew I could easily create one myself once I had the prints.  But since we didn't use her for the entire time she gave us an album with the remaining "hours" she didn't work at the event. Honestly I prefered having all my pictures to do what I wanted with over having her make an album but now I get the best of both worlds =)

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.)  Disc with all pictures (or offered for $150 or less)

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? We had a disc and printed ourselves

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  Our photographer included this at no extra cost.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."  Our package said 8 hours, but he was flexible and stayed until the party ended.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  No.  I preferred to make the album myself through MyPublisher.

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) That we'd have the rights to the pics w/a disk.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk?  we ordered some, but we also got the disk to print others

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  it was included

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."  he was pretty much unlimited, stayed to get the shot in the evening that I wanted, though I wish he would've come a lil earlier to get more pics bf the ceremony started

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  not at all, we wanted to print them ourselves

  • 1. It was important that I get a cd of the pix as I wanted to be able to make copies for relatives at my leisure and especially to do crafty things with the pix later.

    2. Both.  His package offered a book with lots of pix he felt were best, plus all the prints, plus a disc of all.

    3. I don't think so, but if I did it was included in the package. Since the package already had so many pix it was easy to include the cd.

    4. It was a set number of hours agreed upon, from 'getting ready' to cake cutting.

    5. Not really. I could have done it myself but then again he had access with a light box and such to identify the best of all the shots.

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.)

For me it was mostly about the style that I wanted and was looking for, and nothing looking over-edited, and also to have the copyright release.  Another thing that sold me was that it was an unlimited number of images.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk?

For e-pics, we've done both, and I'm sure we will for wedding pics too.  He does some awesome metallic prints that we will be getting some of for sure. Some we will just print at home since we have a printer that works great for photos.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?

It was included, online image and custom digital album proofing, all pics retouched with copyright release and dvd with all images and a digital slideshow.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."

Unlimited.  He, his second shooter will both be there from the time we start getting ready, until the end of the reception.  I think we said noon to 11ish.  The videographer will be there probably 2 to 10 or so.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?

We originally were not going to do an album at all...  and then we met with Mike and he showed us the albums that he gets, and we ended up going two packages higher to get the one that we wanted.   So we really didn't care until we saw them and how nice they were.  They are amazingly high quality and really just gorgeous.  He sold us on them just by having them with him.

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) That we could have the high res disk, with full printing rights up to whatever sizes as I wanted to order different prints in different sizes for different family members. Also that there were TWO photographers so nothing was missed. He had an assistant who got a lot of pics that he missed.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? Got a disc

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  Came with the package thankfully but if you didnt get that package it was an extra $200

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."
It was unlimited! Thankfully and it worked out wonderfully

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  It wasn't important but it was a nice added bonus. I am not creative enough to design an album so it was nice that they included that. Otherwise I might not have a nice leather bound album right now, haha!

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) I was going to say that the disk was included, but after reading other responses, I also agree with Jenn, in that having engagement photos included was important too.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? Disk

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  No, it was included in our package

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." She was there for 9 hours.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package? No.  I think it's nice to have that option on a more expensive package, perhaps.  It's nice, but not a deal breaker.

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) It was VERY important to me that I "clicked" with the photographer.  I wanted him/her to be someone I would invite to the wedding regardless, I felt if they knew me, they'd be able to capture what I wanted in the day.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? I got an album (part of the package) then used our print credit towards our disc of images.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  Yes, but I had a print credit that I was allowed to apply towards the purchase of the disc.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." Gosh I don't even remember.  She was with me for like 8 hours, so it was either 8 hours or unlimited.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package? Yes.  I knew that I wouldn't take the time to put one together and I wanted to make sure we had one.  In our price point it seemed we found photographers that offered the same packages with the same skill level but the difference was they either included the album or the disc.  As stated above I ended up with both.

Just to add to this, because of the relationship I have built with her, she will be our "forever photographer".  I've used other (awesome) photographers, but LaTricia will forever be who I trust for those special moments (maternity, newborn, family, etc)  That's why relationship was so important to me.

  • This was when I was looking for a photographer here before we changed it to having it in Las Vegas.

    1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? -Having a disk with full rights so we can prints all the sizes and quanties that we wanted. Happy we got that because we printed a lot and many sizes.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk?-From Vegas, yes we got prints from them as well as the disk. If we got a photog here, we would have just wanted the disk.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it? Nope, included and we wanted to make sure if was when we were looking here.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." When we were looking we were looking for someone all day or at least 8 hours.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  The disk, so we can make all the prints we wanted. I already made my own album, the way I wanted it

I feel the same way about our's, we built such a great relationship with her that we will forever use her.  She was amazing and incrediblly helpful on the actual wedding day above and beyond what we hired her for.  We honestly feel like she is a life long friend =)

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) A disc of full resolution (and edited, obviously) images that I had rights to print, use for whatever I wanted, etc.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk?  I got a disc.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  It was part of my package.  I wouldn't even look at photographers if it wasn't part of the package.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited."  It was a specified amount of hours (I forget exactly how many).  I believe they left right after my bouquet toss - so they weren't there way into the night, but that's ok since most of my guests didn't stay til the very end anyway.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  Not super important, no.  I was more concerned with the rights to the digital images.  We were on a budget though, or I would have added it to my package (a coffee table book though - not an album.  I did get an album of printed images).  I got married in early 2006 though.  I know things have changed a little since then.

  • 1. What was the MOST important thing you required the photographer to offer? (Other than quality of work, obviously.) 2 photographers, the amount of hours, and the disk

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? I ordered a couple from them but I also got the disk

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  It was included in the price

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." We had them for 10 hours which was important to me because I wanted pictures of us all getting ready (guys & girls) and all the way through the reception.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package?  We got a proof album but I made my own online. I would have liked a nice one included but it just wasn't in our budget.

    2. Did you order prints from your photographer or did you get a disk? We got a disc and all of our pics are on their website to order prints whenever we want. We just haven't ordered any from them.

    3. If you got a disk, did you have to pay for it?  It was included in the price.

    4. Was your photographer there based on a particular amount of hours you agreed upon or was that "unlimited." It was unlimited. They were there from getting ready to the very end.

    5. Was it important for album to be included in your package? It was not important because that is easily done ourselves, however the album was included in our package at no extra cost : ) ..Close family friend!
