What's for dinner - New Years

Hey ladies! We are staying in with our little guy. This year has been a lot about starting new or our own traditions. Trying to come up with ideas for tonight & tomorrow. I need some help in the kitchen. What is a nice New Years dinner? I read cabbage & black eyed pees bring good fortune. :-) Thanks for the help.

  • PS

Sorry for being MIA I miss you girls!

  • We are going to my aunts and I think we are having a Turkey, Green bean casserole, potato salad, tamales, menudo and other stuff not sure. Plus plenty of drinks

Tomorrow we are going to my IL's and MIL is making her once-a-year dip and many snacks.

  • Aw fun! Yeah I need to get it together quick and figure this out. We've got the beverages figured out & talked about grilling some corn. Maybe I'll make some cabbage DH doesn't seem to keen on it though lolz
  • I can't be much help since we are eating out.  But I like the idea of starting traditions too.  My wee one is too young but next year I think I'll start with a nice dinner together where we list all the great things that happened in 2010 and then switch to writing down all our goals as a family and individually.
  • So excited for all of these fun new traditions! So far I have planned for the night.

Filet mignnon, mashed potatoes, grilled corn on the cobb, black eye pees, cake donuts, & lucky coin bread. Saratoga Peppermint Pig. Decorationing. Confettie. Champagne & fireworks. :-)

Chinese on NYE is the best. You have to order a week or more early to be able to have it on NYE back east. Nuts

We'd normally do that tonight but since we had it last night we're going to make Chicken meatballs and tomorrow we're doing a ham with Cheesey Scalloped Potatoes.. It's going to be low key here. We rented Knight and Day and Vampires suck and we'll watch that and celebrate in true New York fashion and go to bed at 10:01 after the NYC Ball drops haha

  • The hubs and I had a early lunch/late dinner at Cheesecake Factory.  At 3:00 in the afternoon that place was already packed, so I think I am going to stay in tonight and stay safe from all the looney tunes!
  • We talked, when my son was born, about going out of town each NYE to do something low key.  This is the first year we've been able to do that.  We rented a cabin in Pine and are snuggling in front of the fire while my two year old dances and plays with Woody. We made homemade pizza for dinner and after Christian goes to sleep, we'll have some munchies and dessert.  It's so nice for us to just chill!!
