Bleach help

Hi everyone!  I have a cleaning question.  I bought this rug when my dog was a puppy a few months ago-  its an indoor/outdoor rug.  It says that you can even wash it off with the hose.

My dog kept peeing on it and peeing on it. Confused  I was so tired of spot cleaning,  i packed it up in my car to take to the cleaners.  None of the ones around us do rugs, so it sat in my car for a couple months.

I took it out today and try to use the Bissell little green steam cleaner, but the spots are still looking a little yellow,  (Its still a little damp)

I spent some decent money on it, so what is a good cleaner for urine on a light blue and ivory rug?

P.s It says its "bleachable" but how should I do that?  I also have Oxy Clean in the house.

Re: Bleach help

  • You have probably let the urine stains sit for too long. These thing are best addressed as soon as they happen. You could try mixing up a solution of dishsoap, water, and bleach, and scrubbing it with a brush. Then take it outside and hose it down. The bleach may change the color of the rug, so I would scrub the whole thing with the bleach solution. Half a cup of bleach to one gallon of water, and a good squirt of dish soap to make it sudsy.
