Good thoughts and prayers
A girl I know from another board - and I've known her a good long time - took her youngest daughter to Urgent Care last night. They, in turn, sent her to the ER, who sent her to Children's hospital where they were told the "children's oncology team" would be waiting for them.
She found out this morning that her four year old daughter has leukemia. I cannot even begin to imagine how I would handle that, but she just seems very matter of fact about what's going on and how they're going to treat it.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers that the girl makes a full recovery ...
Re: Good thoughts and prayers
That's terrible, I hope they caught it early.
T&P for her and her family.

Oh god, I hope it's a decent prognosis. Before I wanted to be a lawyer, I wanted to go into medical research, and be a geneticist, because two of my sister's friends had leukemia - one 6 and one 10.

I know how hard it must be to hear that news. I worked at Children's Medical Center here in Dallas for 3 years - mostly with "cancer kids". As hard as it is, Leukemia has a really good prognosis most of the time these days. It's not an easy road but it is treatable!
Please tell her about the wesbite caringbridge.com
She can set it up to help keep everyone informed about this journey they are beginning. It helps because there are days she can't or doesn't want to talk to people. It's a good way to communicate with others without having to answer your phone 24/7. I used to help set them up for most of my patients
I'll be praying for them!

Wow...what terrible news.
Definitely sending T&P's their way.
this
I really hope they caught it early too. She took the child to the doctor because she said she's been really sick for several days and that she just knew something wasn't "right".
I was infuriated when some moron on the board where I know this girl from, suggested that she and her husband "get started right away" on having another baby so they could use the umbilical cord blood if the sick child needs it. I mean, WTF??? First off, who would SAY such a thing to someone they don't even KNOW, second, why suggest something like that on probably the worst day of her life ... I just can't even go on with what was so wrong with that statement. It truly disgusted me.
Unfortunately, people on boards can be fvcking stupid...it's one of the (many) reasons I don't post a lot on other boards/forums...I just can't deal with stupidity.
Ugh...
This! Please keep us posted as you hear more.
because that's a good reason to have another baby? You should tell that lady maybe she should get KU soon so at least she can blame her idiocy on "pregnancy brain" !
