Post full o' baby related crap

Can anyone tell me how to search post on the Bump from 2008?   i'd like to know how much weight i'd gained by now last time, but can't remember and kept no record

Mom's of two: did you buy a double stroller?   Lila will be almost 3 when this one is born, wondering if i should bother....when do kids stop riding in strollers?

Taking baby name suggestions.   We're at a total loss.

Did Hezz disappear into baby hell?   i was counting on her upbeat look on life to colour my perception of how this would go and take away my nightmares.

Re: Post full o' baby related crap

  • How far along are you now?
  • I gained all my weight on the front end, but I had also quit smoking.  I gained a total of 65 lbs! I know that's not what you are asking, but that's what I'm contributing.

I'm down to 30 more lbs to drop.  But everyone says how good I look.  I don't know if they are being polite, but I could be fat and happy (and lazy) and not lose these 30 lbs if it's true.

  • Wow! How did that happen?

So are you finding out the sex? I currently like the name Imogen.

  • Take comfort in the fact that Noisy and Kristen seem to deal with two youngsters with aplomb.

Did you have a boys' name picked out when Lila was born?

  • We're not finding out the sex so we have to pick two names.   Currently Norah, Cate, and Charlotte or Thomas, Jack, or Charlie are in the lead but I'm not 100% on any of them

time is flying at an alarming rate.   i can feel my cheeks pulling back from my face from the velocity.

Tasty i think i gained 10-12 lbs by now last time but I'm doing a lot more activity this time around.   no matter what you gain, the most common thing I've heard is it takes a year to put on and a year to take off.  The new mama happy-glow goes pretty far.

  • We had a 20% off coupon at Toys R Us and also they were having a sale so we got a good deal on one of those sit n stand stroller dealybobs. Will pretty much always wants to walk (even when he's been walking for like, 3 hours straight and is on the verge of collapse) but it's come in handy a few times (and I can usually at least convince Will that he needs to sit while we cross busy streets, so I don't have to maneuver the stroller and hold his hand and hurry him across) and it was compatible with our existing car seat thingy so that was nice.

If we have another girl we'd probably name her Elsie. But we're probably not having any more kids, and it's pretty old-fashioned, and it's after my great aunt, who is probably not your great aunt, so you don't have any sentimental attachments to the name. She was Canadian though.

Having two can be harrowing at times (especially when your first goes all out of control), but it's already a lot easier than it was just a couple months ago. I'm quite enjoying myself. Of course, Evie isn't mobile yet.

  • I happen to be partial to my niece's name for a girl: Isla. Of course, I can never use it but you can!

    Other favorite names currently:

    Girls - Chloe, Margot, Annaliese

Boys - Felix, Jonah (we can never use a J name because both of us are J names and that would be dumb), Jamie, Maximilian

It's getting fuzzy for me, but I gained about 3 lbs for the whole first tri, then 6 lbs each month of the second tri.  I ended up gaining a total of 38 lbs.

  • jack was our boy's name.

i'm not sure we can have Isla and Lila...it could get tres confusing.

    I really like Margot!

  • i've been eyeing up the sit and stand.   i think that might be the best option.  i wish you could take an overnight test drive of those things.

i can see me using the stroller a lot during the first 6 months while I'm off (daycare is within walking distance of our house) but once i'm back to work i think it won't be used much.

  • A woman I work with has a new granddaughter named Eloise.  I love it!  Margot was on our list because F did not like Margaret, and our girl's name was Sydney.

Our other boys names were Daniel, Nathan, and Edward.  I also liked other Scottish names like Angus, Malcolm, and Gregor, but got the veto.

  • Yeah, I used it a lot when I was on maternity leave. It's still good for super long walks or trips to the zoo, but we've been using the stroller that came with our travel system for every day walks the last few months. It may not be worth it, but if you get a good deal on one or if Lila really likes riding, why not. I think Kristen just got a Joovy Caboose, I think that's a sit and stand too so I'm sure she can weigh in as well.

  • I really love the name Ella, but it's my stupid grandmother's name so I will never use it.

For boys, I like some fancier ones like Gideon and Desmond, but I also love Henry and Adam.

  • personally, I really like Joanne for a girl, although I'd never use it because I think it would be weird.  Why don't I think it's weird to name a boy after the father though?  hmm, I guess I'm sexist.

  • In the end I gained 17lbs and most of that was in 2nd tri.

    Natalie was our girl name.

  • Go to thebump and click on the tab that says my bump.  To the right of your name it will have a number showing all your posts you've participated in.  Click on it.  Then you can click on show all posts and try to search through them.

As far as names, some names we considered but are not using are: Lucas, Nathaniel, Noah, Xavier, Isaiah, Elijah, Benjamin, Alexander, and William for boys.  And Juliet(te), Olivia, Sophia, Charlotte, Scarlett, and a few others that are slipping my mind right now.

The names we plan on using are Zachary Scott for a boy or Delilah Grace for a girl.

  • I gained almost 40 with Maggie and 30-35ish with Owen. I dropped the first 15 right away, and have been hanging on to the last 15 for 8 months. Blergh. Hence the Weight Watchers we just started. :-)

Strollers, ah strollers. I have a hammidown Maclaren double and hate it.  It's just too wide for me. So for the first 6 months or so, I would either have Owen in the snap n go and Maggie walk, or we'd each take a kid in a stroller, or I'd put Owen in the Beco Gemini carrier (love that thing!) and Maggie in the grocery cart or whatever. Then I settled on the Joovy Ultralight Caboose and we love it. It's a sit n stand style. It's easy to use, light for a double stroller, and not too big. Maggie didn't like sitting on it at first, but we talked about how it's like a train and she's into it more. She loves being able to stand and ride.

  • I tried that search, it only goes back to 2009.

thanks for the input re: strollers.  i think the sit n stand will be the way to go.

  • I only gained 3-4 lbs in the first tri. Most of mine was put on in the last 7-8 weeks.

My BIL and SIL have a sit and stand that we've used for walks with both. Their 3 yo seems to like it well enough. They're a few months shy of 3 years apart, so that will be close the difference with your, right?

    image
  • Boys names: Benjamin, Evan, Daniel, Drake

Girls names: Elise, Elizabeth, Nessa, Catherine

None of those are what we will be using but I love them. I also used to joke we'd name our daughter Elphaba . LoL

eta: Also I think the weight gain depends on how much you weighed prior to the pregnancy. I'm only a few days behind you and I haven't gained anything but I was a bit overweight to begin with.

  • Our girl name is Amelia. Heaven help us if we have another boy. He may just wind up being named Optimus Prime because we'll likely never agree on anything.

  • 10-12 seems like a lot in the first tri. Obviously everybody is different but I think the norm is 5 pounds, or even losing if you have been sick/nauseous. Did you get sick with Lila or this baby?

I'm already eyeing up double strollers (we plan to have our kids 2-3 years apart) and I really like the idea of a sit and stand.

  • I don't remember how much I gained first tri but I was up 19 lbs when I checked into L&D at 27 weeks.  2 1/2 pound baby so most of it was my fat!

Double stroller?  M's first had to have that fancy chameleon but she went to craig's list for a double.  Think it was a Bob, about $200, pretty good shape.

I get no say in names now but my favorite girl's name is Ashby.

  • Did OOT just say she had 2.5 babies?
    image
  • haha

    typo

two and a half pound baby.  Just one and she grew up just fine

  • I'm 21 weeks and I've gained about 12 pounds.  I gained only around 5 I think in the first tri and I gained 5 in the last month.

Boy names: Thomas, Simon, Ethan, Ian, Jack, Mason

Girl names: Charlotte, Caroline, Eleanor, Evelyn

  • I've gained about 12-13 lbs.  I never had any morning sickness and have wanted to do nothing but eat since I've been about 6 weeks pregnant.  I just threw out a bunch of chocolate because I have zero self control.  I see myself gaining much, much more weight.

We find out the sex tomorrow (yay!) so we will have a more serious talk about names then.  So far our front runners for a boy are Jack, Graham, Christian, and Garrett and for a girl we like so many: Claire, Evangeline, Calista, Julia, Katherine Lily, Layla, Natalie...

  • I gained 23ish lbs, and most of it was in 2nd trimester.
    image
  • Oh.  Names.  For boys, I vote Simon and Henry, since I didn't get to use either one for my kid.  For a girl I like Alice, Jane, June, and Penelope.
    image
  • I hadn't gained any at 15 weeks with Will ended up gaining 50, didn't lose any at all right away. Gained 10lbs with Maggie at 15 weeks, gained 40 in total at 8 months post I've dropped 30.

I had a double jogger but Will hated it so I gave it away. Will ONLY wants to walk. My mom got me a wagon with two seat thingies we'll see how they take to it over the summer. I've been mostly wearing Maggie. Its just easier all around.

Being a mom of two is easier than I thought. It seemed so daunting when I was pregnant. But things seem to flow so well and its really a joy!
