S/O Underwear: Topless hospital visit

Melissa's post made me chuckle, so I thought I'd tell you all about one of my most embarrassing moments.

A couple of years ago I fell off my bed while trying to turn off my alarm.  You see, my dresser was at the foot of my bed and my alarm clock was on the dresser.  I put it there so that I had to get out of bed to turn it off, but instead I'd scoot to the bottom of the bed and reach out to turn it off.  Well, this time I lost my balance and fell off my bed.  On my arm.  Which was twisted behind me.  Yep, it broke.  It was awful.  I had to twist it back around to the front and it went "pop, pop, pop" as I brought it around.

The embarrassing part is that on this particular morning I happened to be sleeping sans clothing.  I managed to put pajama pants on but I couldn't get my shirt on.  Awkwardly, I slid my good arm into my robe and twisted my body around to get the robe around my body and ran to my roommates door to wake her up and ask her to take me to the hospital.

At the hospital they gave me a gown to get into and my roommate had to help me get out of my own robe and into the hospital one.  It was so weird!  We weren't even that close. And I don't know how (some question he asked me...I guess to see if they were going to have to cut something off) but I had to tell the (male) nurse that I wasn't wearing a shirt.

Turns out I broke my humerus in 2 places.  Moral of this story: If you are going to be stupid enough to reach across to your dresser to turn off your alarm, make sure you are wearing clothes.

  • Lets just keep the awkward, naked, hospital visit posts going :)

I feel like I have many, but only this one comes to mind at the moment, and it's pretty tame, but kinda funny.

You know that "paper blanket" they give you to cover up at an OBGYN appointment?  Well, for my first ever visit, I was so nervous, I didn't realize the little 12x12 inch square of paper the nurse handed me was all folded up and meant to be a cover-up.

My doc and nurse come in for the exam and there is little me, holding this little square of fabric over my lap, trying to barely cover up my lady parts, but awkwardly, because I didn't know if that was what is was for.

The doc and nurse can't stop chuckling as they try to tell me to unfold it.

  • I'm such a klutz - I could totally do something like that and would have done similar shenanigans to force myself to get out of bed, but find a way to cheat on actually getting up!  I was also a nekkid sleeper in college, so would have been in the absolute same boat you were in...  just saying I'd totally be your twin!

  • I'd totally do that just to stay in bed, although I've never been one for sleeping in the buff. It would be mortifying to show off some of my PJ's though, trust me.

So, this is funny now, but at that moment in time I wanted to die... I had an emergency appendectomy when I was 15, and was REALLY loopy when I got out of surgery. My mom is helping me do something, and my gown rode up, and me lady parts was on display.

Apparently my mom goes, "Oh, they had to shave you." thinking it was part of the surgery, and I just go, "Oh no mom, I shave it myself... I hate hair." completely unphased. SOOO not like me at the time.  My mom, is mortified, and slightly disturbed to know this about her 15 y.o. daughter.

Yea, when I realized I told her that in a morning-after fog the next day, I wanted to crawl in a hole lol.

  • Hilarious!  Anesthesia and nudity - yes!

  • Or you could be like me and tuck the paper blanket around yourself because you are mortified that you are naked sitting there not knowing what is going to happen next.

When I was 17 I had to get my wisdom teeth out, and back then they actually put you under. So they were done and brought my mom in to wake me up, as she was shaking me I opened my eyes and said, "Mom, I feel like I am wasted." Needless, to say she thought I was innocent until that day, and she was not so pleased with me. Oops :)
