How often do you wash your sheets?

As I sit here, with our bedroom sheets in the laundry, not remembering how long it's been, I wonder how often do you all wash your sheets?[Poll]

  • Less than once a month - and I'll leave it at that Embarrassed

  • Everyother week. We don't have laundry access in our house so it makes it more difficult. I change the sheets everytime we do laundry.
  • I'd say probably about once a month which sounds disgusting lol, but we tend to sleep on top of our comforter and use other blankets to cover up with.  I'm not sure why, but I've always kind of done this (maybe because I'm lazy and don't have to make the bed this way, just fold up the blanket in the morning? lol).  So it's very rare that we even use our actual sheets.

  • I'm fairly particular about germs and, between having children and the fact that our own sheets see a lot of action on a regular basis, I wash every sheet in the house about twice a week - but am oftening changing sheets three times a week (we have a lot of sheets).

I do LAUNDRY, in general, an ungodly amount of time, though, so it's no extra effort.  I suspect our weekly laundry would average out to roughly 3 loads a day.

  • I was so wondering what you would say Melissa!  So I had to look.  I wasn't sure if you would say daily or when "well starched"

DH has always done this. He runs hot all the time, so he regularly sleeps on top of the comforter with a fleece blanket covering him from his knees to like, mid-torso & the fan on. I on the other hand run cold, so I sleep in my flannel sheets in the winter. I wash them every Sunday. Sunday is my cleaning day (I'm becoming my mother!). I do ALL the laundry, clean any random apartment messes, do the floors, etc. It's good structure I think. :)

  • I usually do ours once a month unless we have company staying...this last month though I couldn't remember when they were last changed!

  • We fall usually into the once every 3 weeks category, however it has been known to be longer when our schedule gets crazy. I wash our guest sheets after we have visitors and then remake the bed, so I am never left wondering if I washed them. Our sheets I confess to be a little more lax about.

  • We wash the sheets and pillow cases every other weekend. I only do the duvet cover, pillow shams and bed skirt once a month, though. Okay, maybe I do the bed skirt less often.

Also we have 2 sets of sheets now (finally) but we really only use one.

  • I wash them every week or 2. The cats sleep on them alot, so they get furry quickly.

  • I said once a month. We just changed the sheets right before I got one here acutally. Now that I have three sets of sheets in the rotations it should be much more frequent.

Melissa-I wish that my sheets got action, then I would probably be forced to wash them more :( BOOO for me!

  • Before we started TTC, I washed them every other week. now I wash them quite a bit more.. sorry if thats TMI.
  • I voted once every 3 weeks, but if you recall DH's drinking problem, if we're going out alot, then it can be every week and sometimes twice in one week (Ew!)

But we do have 2 sets of sheets we rotate and although it makes them fade quicker, I try to wash the pillow cases every week (as a rec from my dermatologist).

Our duvet cover is dry clean only and we haven't had that washed since we got it in Oct. Then again, it's never really laid on, just under or pushed off the bed for "boof"-ing

  • We change ours weekly as part of our weekly cleaning routine.

I have to say going to bed in freshly made sheets has always been one of my simple pleasures in life.  I love getting in bed the night after I have changed the sheets!

I feel the same way!  We have 3 sheet sets that we rotate through about once a week...

Ditto, clean pjs in a fresh bed are one of the simplest pleasures in my life!
  • I used to be a once a week or more sort of person and then we moved while I was pregnant the laundry ended up being downstairs so it was "harder" to get it done as often as I'd liked. Right now we do ours once every other week but I change L's crib sheet twice a week.

  • The door to the laundry room is litterally one foot from the door to my bedroom, and I still only do it once a month lol

  • I put once every three weeks but sometimes it's more often.  That is for the sheets and pillow cases.  For the duvet cover and shams it's more like once a month.  We see plenty of action, but we also use towels (which, of course, get washed regularly).  TMI?  Sorry.  =P

  • Once a week, I love buying new linens!! We gave away 4 sets of sheets when we moved and still have way too many in rotation! Oh well, nice sheets are a definite pleasure for me!
