jackie and stephanie

H and I really like old fashioned names.

We have a list for children -

William ( my dad )

Lane ( his family name )

Reid ( my family name )

Henry

Irene ( my sisters middle name )

Camille ( but I always think of Camilla Bowles .. :/

Grace ( but its very very popular, IMO )

Stephanie - you mentioned Evelyn -- my sisters other name for another daughter is Evelyn Kate ( Kate after me, obviously ) but they'd call her Evie ( Eevee )

Re: jackie and stephanie

  • ::butting in::

I love the names Reid and Camille! But like you said AK, Camille makes me think of HRH's wife.

One of the nicest and prettiest girls in my HS was named Lane. I always thought it was so original.

  • Reid was my paternal grandmothers maiden name -- my maternal grandmothers maiden name was Nash -- but I think Reid works better.

Norah is another favorite plus it is of Middle Eastern decent and that is Hs one request.

Also love Nora(h) but it is my cousin's wife's name and I wouldn't want to name a baby after her (she's really nice but we're not close).

I like your naming skillz AK!

ha!  If only.  Conversations on it lately have been this:

Me: "Have you thought anymore about names, any additions to the list, etc.?"

H: "I'd like to incorporate Ninja into his name somehow" or something equally mature.

Me: "I will not discuss names with you again until you are ready to have a grown-up conversation"

    Stick out tongue

    Ha!!!

That sounds exactly like my H when I tried discussing names with him.  Only with Will it was something to do with guns.  His first (and really only) serious suggestion was Amelia.

  • Great names!! Norah was our runner up to Margot :) We also had Reid on our list. We prefer the older names too, hence Margot Rosalind - both from my great grandmothers era.

  • I also love old names (Hence May). FIL's cousins have two daughters, Nora and Lila.  They are both family names and I absolutely love them. Our nephew's name is Henry.

I am trying to convince DH on Georgia and Charlotte, should we have more girls. (I absolutely cannot decide on boys' names I like.)

  • Love all of those names!  Camille was also on my list of favorites.

  • For girls I love Lillian (would be Lily for short) and Ava for first names and Rose for a middle name for either. I love Grace for a middle name also. Or a first. Ava and Grace are really popular up here right now; I hate that. I also like Eva...but we'll be naming after the first initial of grandparents/great grandparents/aunt...and we have no E. I do like Chloe also but not sure. I would also love to name after my bff who passed, Emma, but don't think we will.

For boys, I love Joseph. We really haven't discussed to many boys names. We joke with everyone the baby will be Lorenzo Von insert our last name here. (For you HIMYM fans)...I also kind of like Avi- maybe for a middle... but not sure on it. I mean technically we could have a 4th of July baby and H keeps joking we'll name the kid George. I HATE George.

  • i love georgia!

dh and i don't agree on names. i tend to be more old-fashioned than him. and yes, he still doesn't take it seriously. so he keeps telling people the baby will either be butch or ruth, lol.

HA! Nate's middle name is Joseph, and when we told my aunt, she said, "With the initials NJ, his nickname can be NINJA!!!"

I LOVE Lillian with the nn Lily, but Lily with our last name is not pretty, so we had to nix it. Made me so sad :( Your other names are very pretty too, but I agree that Ava and Grace are becoming too popular now.

Ha, my sister is so thankful she had a girl.  If it was a boy, he would be Dane Lewis Jr.  My BIL wanted to call him Danejr (( danger ))
