Who do you use for car and/or house insurance? I'm fed up with American Family and need to start looking for a new company. I had an accident, just bumped the bumper and the cost was under $1k and no claim on my car. Both the agent and the claims guy said my ins wouldn't go up. If it was going to increase, I was just going to pay out of pocket. Well, I get a new bill and our car insurance is going up $42/month! So, over two years, this is $1,008! I am pi$$ed to say the least.

"Cheese!"
Holy crap $42 is a HUGE increase. That's almost half of what the premium is on our cars per month total!
Our auto insurance is through Progressive and Homeowner's is through Cincinnatti.
We've never had a claim on our Auto insurance, but Progressive has always been very easy to deal with regarding questions, changes, etc. and almost all of it can be done "self-service" on their website, which I love!! I also have an agent, who is great, but that's not relevant since you're not in the area.

I've heard that Cincinnatti is notorious for dropping people after claims, but we've never had one and the price and coverage is great, so we will stick with it for now.
Oh and I wrong, it stays on your insurance for 3 years! So, they are charging me over $1500 for an accident that cost $1000. I called my agent and told him I was going to look around, as this was absurd! I really like my agent, so I don't want to leave, but this is just not acceptable. He called me right away and is going to "fix it". I told him to call me when he comes up with a number and I'll let him know if I will stop looking at other places. I still plan to look though, as I think they are really high.
@Sara ~ I had Grange when I was in Toledo and liked them.
Thanks for the recs girls. I will be looking into these other ins co.
Call Arrow Dickerson at Allstate and tell her I sent you! I LOVE her!! We switched to Allstate when we got married and she has been our agent since. I had been with Metropolitan and Jeff with State Farm. Well, both were way expensive for us so we did some looking around when we went together on a policy.

FTR, it took a good part of the to figure out WDYU. LOL
We use State Farm for everything.
B has been with them for 20 years and loves his agent.
LOL, sorry about that. Now, what does FTR stand for? LMBO!
THANK YOU for this post! We too have American Family for the house and have had enough of them. They have been terrible for us and we haven't even made a claim!!! I have Nationwide for auto and my premium just keeps increasing...I have had a spotless driving record for 8 years! We were debating between Allstate & State Farm, so its good to see so many happy customers.
