Love it or Hate it?

Alfoggie's post got me thinking...Do you hate or love your job?

I hate my job.  I've been stuck here for over 2 years.  I've been looking for another job but nothing out there and I can't afford to take a pay cut.  I feel like this place is like the mob, once you're in you're in and you can never get out!

Re: Love it or Hate it?

  • I voted for the 2nd because I would leave this job, in the schools, for a pediatric medical position. However, I love my job (most days) and definitely love my kids. I hate the paperwork and all the stupid furlough days we have but I know it could be a lot worse.

Am I job searching, heck yes. But it's more or less for a different company in the school system just because I know there aren't any ideal positions opened.

  • I need a "special snowflake" option.

My job description, my specific tasks, my projects, most customers, most coworkers, the freedom I have,  - I love.

The specific things that people do that directly effect my job negatively - I hate.

I guess thats everyone in sense, but there are a lot of little details that go into my situation making it really difficult to explain unless someone worked with me.

I love my job enough not to leave, but that doesn't mean I won't construct a field goal at the end of the hallway and punt stuffed animals into it when coworkers and other various people piss me off. :)

  • I wanted to pick the first option, but I wouldn't say my job is the best and I absolutely love it that much. While I do like my job, the responsibilities, my boss, etc., I am not a fan of of the location (working in the city blows + it's too far from home). It's not enough to cause me to look elsewhere though.

I also, honestly, am the type of person who doesn't care so much about my career, advancing, etc. even though I do have a degree & am working in that field. I just want something that keeps me happy and the bills paid.

  • I said #1 but it's not entirely true.  I do really enjoy my job, but it's not like my dream job or anything.  I think I'd have been more inclined to choose #2 if it didn't have the "...I'd leave in a heartbeat" part.  I think my job's okay, but I'm not going anywhere.  I have a pretty sweet gig where I am.

This pretty much sums it up.  And, I'll be honest, my dream job involves me staying home with the Jelly Bean, but that ain't happening anytime soon.

  • I voted #3.  It's becoming a real struggle to go to work.  I keep asking DH if I can quit but since we bought the house he's been really hesitant.  He always responds "are you still going to make as much as you do now?" generally in a teasing manner.  Of course, there's no way I'd make a similar amount working PT and starting an etsy business or something on the side.

It's hard too because this is now the third job I've been in where it was good for awhile and after several years, I become extremely bored/unhappy/downright miserable.  I would probably do better doing more true freelance work, but I just can't give up the stability. :-(

  • I picked the middle one, but that's if I consider the crap sub job I've had for years as a job. I haven't gotten a paycheck in a month, so I don't know how I count that but... I do. I am currently trying to get something full-time so I can actually have something dependable to pay the bills, so yes, I wouldleave in a heartbeat.

  • I picked the first one because I love what I do and I love being self-employed. I'm in a good situation where I am and, albeit slowly, my clientele is growing. Of course, if we're ever in the position financially where I can quite working completely and be a SAHM I will take that option in a heartbeat. Not because I don't want to do this work that I really love, but because I've always wanted to be a SAHM. I guess I have to become a mom first though, huh?

  • I hate hate hate mine and it's no secret.  I've also asked DH if/when I can quit.  No such luck.  Have been researching going back to school, but don't have an extra $30K for my masters.  Plus, who's to say after all that time and money, I don't waste my masters like I wasted my bachelor's?  Sad.
  • Sometimes I feel like a jerk because I love my job so much. I love what I do. I love the people I work with. I love the building I work in. I love that it's 10 min from the house. It has awesome benefits and he pay is great.

Occasionally, I want to shout from the roof tops how awesome it is. But so many people (BFF included) hate their jobs, so it makes me sound like a brat.

But I think that I'm allowed to extol the virtues of my workplace on this post.
