A few weeks ago, we shared with our pastor about our plan to move to Kenya and start a home for street kids. He believes that our church will eventually decide to sponsor the orphanage. On Saturday morning, we had an email from him suggesting that we start working on a business plan or proposal or something - basically a document that tells people what we're planning, where we think we'll start, how we'll grow in the future, and what help we need.
We brainstormed all morning, until Rodgers had to leave for work. Then, I started typing up the document after Nate went to bed. It's exciting, but I'm kind of scared because I know that once the wheels are in motion, this is going to happen fast.
I suggested to Rodgers that we may be moving to Kenya sooner than expected. Maybe I won't get a job before then. Maybe my only job (you know, besides being a mom, wife, home manager...) until we move is getting us ready. Or maybe when we go to Kenya for Christmas this year, we don't come back after the holidays. We're not sure yet, but it seems like it's coming fast.

Wow! That is great that your church is already reaching out to help, so to speak.
Would this be a permanent move do you think? Or would you plan to move back to the states at some point? Just curious

We're thinking more or less permanent, which is a wild concept.

Seriously, must blog as much as possible.
What an exciting (and petrifying from my standpoint) life adventure!!! I'm the type that would always want do do something like that, but would never put the wheels in motion to do it. Congrats!!! on getting the ball rolling and going for it!
I agree with this; Rachel you and Rodgers remind me slightly of a girl I used to work with about 6 years ago. She and her husband got married and were very into their church and missionary work. They moved to Africa (I forget where) and helped build up businesses/schools (ugh, again, I forget).
I always respected them for doing that...and truly feel the same about you and Rodgers!!! Good luck!
