Hi! (another sports board newb)
Hello ladies, I've been posting on TN for a while now but mostly on my local board. It gets kind of slow over there sometimes so I thought I'd venture out.
I love sports and am a HS Coach's wife (football/baseball). Generally I prefer College sports but I'll take what I can get. H and I don't really have teams that we "root" for with the exception of UW (go Dawgs! Woof!) ... we just like to see a good game.
I'm kind of sad football season is almost over though
Anyways, looking forward to talking sports with people my own gender for a change
Re: Hi! (another sports board newb)
Welcome! Your dog is adorable!
My husband is a coach, too. He work for a school in the SEC. It is a crazy life!
I'm sad football is almost over, too. It is my fave! But I do love college baseball...

Thanks! That is one of my two furry babies
Wow a college coach huh? How does he like it? how do YOU like it? H always says that he wouldn't want to coach College ball but I think he secretly does. I think he's good enough to get there too (but I'm biased of course!), but I wouldn't ever want to move too far away from the Northwest.
I guess I'm going to have to get used to all of this SEC business huh? Its OK... I'm used to the Pac 10 getting no love... esp from Coach Lou when he's commentating... he cracks me up.

He loves it! He's been a college coach for quite some time now, coached at a smaller DI to get his Master's and then was a head coach at a DII and now we've been here for 3 years. He's in heaven. The resources, everything...just unbelievable. He is definitely in his element. He started out coaching high school and says he will never, ever go back. Not after having his pick of all of the best talent, money that never stops, the amazing facilities, the free clothes
I like it...it is very, very demanding and essentially runs our lives. But he's so happy and he's so good at what he does that it makes me happy to watch him coach. He's on the road probably 75% of the time, and usually (in the off-season) works 16+ hour days. The other members of the coaching staff call him all the time, day, night, holiday, vacation...and when he's home he's always on the phone with recruits. But there are many, many advantages to his job (free tickets to all athletic events, including things like the SEC Football Championship game, the National Championship game), a huuuuuge check from Under Armour for us to spend on a personal shopping spree every year, tons of free clothes from the school...makes it worth it!
We love the south...neither of us are originally from here but we love it. We love being in one of the most competitive conferences in the country, in the heart of the conference that loves its schools like no other. And the weather--fab!
Usually the talking heads on ESPN like the SEC but fans of all schools not SEC HATE us.

Hello & welcome!
I love all sports (whatever is in season). My DH & I are on a life quest to attend a baseball game in each MLB stadium. So far we've attended 16 out of 30 stadiums.
I'm born & raised in Michigan, so I'm a Big Ten (or big 11, big 12, big 13, who knows how many schools they will have!) gal. Don't see much Pac-10 games, it's hard when it's so late to watch them & we get up early Sunday for church.
Welcome!
I'm just a big sports nut in general. I grew up an NBA fan, became a football fan in high school and bleed orange for my alma mater [the Oklahoma State kind]. I'm still a really, really big NBA fan - huge fan of the Mavs and Thunder [my sister works for the Thunder, too].
As for other sports, I'm all over the place. NFL = Eagles, MLB = Red Sox, NHL = Pens. :P
This board is generally quiet, but it's nice to have a place to come talk sports. And, we played fantasy football this year and will probably have a March Madness bracket challenge this year like we did last year. That's always fun.
I will admit that Basketball is the sport I like the least (not to say I don't like it... just not as much as other sports)... I think it's because I never played it and have a hard time understanding the positions/strategy. However, I do really like March Madness - it is just so exciting to see those kids giving it all they've got.
And your Thunder used to be my Sonics... sad day.
Thanks for the warm welcome ladies!

hiya.
My DH used to work at UW (he's in compliance - NCAA) - he was there when Tyrone was the coach (he was SUCH a nice guy) and knows LoRo a little to (well, I call him LoRo, I think everyone else just calls him Romar or Coach!)
Don't be sad that football is over. The Huskies look like they'll do well in the PAC10 and into the tourney.... We both went to a basketball school (Marquette) in a basketball conference (Big East!) so I'm all about the season now.
That is true! I went to my first men's NCAA game at Hec Ed last year and had so much fun, just H and I. It's nice to be cheering on the dawgs inside in the warm (vs the football games). From what I hear WSU is supposed to do really well also. It should be exciting!
