Let myself go?!

Hey ladies, first time posting here but I was wondering if you guys could offer some advice?!

My FI and I have been together for almost 4 years and we're getting married in 3 months.

Last year I had skin cancer and I've spent 18 months on chemo and recovering from surgeries. Since then, I've had body issues because my groin area is dented in from having lymphnodes removed and whatnot. HE thinks I'm beautiful but I'm really not into sex anymore because I feel gross.

We're getting ready to move back into our place (we moved in with my parents for a short bit to renovate) and I want to make Valentine's Day special.

Can anyone suggest some fun sex related things to purchase?
I've always been a prude and never used toys, games, etc....

Re: Let myself go?!

  • you could go check out the local 'toy store' or even amazon has a Large selection of things you can check out! or if you a have a few girlfriends you could do a girls night and have a passion party, its kinda like a dirty Tupperware party lol they let you check it out all they have to offer, lubes, toys, bath goods, they have some of my favorites they have a lube called fireworks (its more for BJ's) its got great flavor (i like the strawberry) they have 'nibble' cream it more for him to enjoy you can put it just about anywhere for him to lick off! for toys I've been checking out amazon for toys they have a few on there that look like a good time, the brand lelo seem to have more focused towards woman getting what they need but you could check out maybe a 'C' ring which might be nice for both of you. good luck with your hunt!

I just wanted to say that I've gone through something similar myself. I'm diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and am currently in the middle of my chemotherapy treatment. What with the hair loss, exhaustion, nausea, and overall crappiness, I can definitely understand where you're coming from when it comes to not feeling sexy. Congratulations on beating that cancer down!

One thing that's been recommended to me a few times is to buy a copy of the Kama Sutra. I managed to find a cheap version on the trendy gifts shelves near the registers at Borders. Almost any version you find will be full of new positions, foreplay, and advice, and it can be fun to read through with your S.O.! The best part is that you don't have to try everything. Just pick and choose the positions you're comfortable with and take it slow.

  • Your FI is right.  You are beautiful, scars included.  They're a part of your body that tells a story, and your story is what makes you who you are.  I know it's hard, but try to think less of your body as a thing that should be compared to some mental ideal, and more as a tangible extension of who you are.
