Recommend your TV Wall Mount

We need a wall mount for our tv, and I'm having a hard time choosing.  I've found several that would probably work, but other than photos and online reviews, don't have much else to go on.  Does anyone have one they like?  Here's the background info:

--46" flat screen tv, weighs 37lbs
--need mount to pull away from the wall, swivel, and tilt
--prefer double-arm mount (I've read that single arm ones can sag with the weight of the tv)
--really want a low-profile one (people will be walking past the tv) -- as close to the wall as possible (ideally less than 4")

Re: Recommend your TV Wall Mount

  • We went with a low profile - with a 1.25" thick LED TV, a mount that stuck out into the room would look kind of disproportionate.  The swivel rotation is fairly minimal (which was fine with us).

I confess that we didn't put much research into the mount.  We picked the low profile mount that Best Buy had that was for our size TV.  Done, done, and done.

  • Mara, this site is awesome for mounts and cables. They are pretty inexpensive but great quality. The buyer for ABC's electronics recommend this site to me. :)

  • Amazon has a bunch with quite a few reviews.  Make sure you check if your tv is compatible with the screw holes in the mount.  Most brands you can check on their website.  DH has learned that the hard way.. twice!
  • Best. TV. Wall Mount. Ever.  https://www.dynamicmounting.com/fireplace-tv-mounts

We just bought ours and my brother in law put it up for us.  The pix on the website are accurate.  It is fantastic.  You can also participate in their rebate offer.  Post to a forum like this one and find other avenues for marketing the product (see website) and you can get up to $100 off the price.

This has turned out particularly well for us because the condo we bought was designed to have a tv mounted over the fireplace but the distance between the couch and the fireplace is shallow.  We would have been craning our necks to watch tv.  Now we can lower the tv from its spot above the fireplace and see it at a decent level!
