Anyone joining Weight Watchers?

I want to join Weight Watchers on-line.  They have a pretty good promo.  First three months is $53 and they will waive sign up fees, then each month thereafter is $17.95.

I've always wanted to join but figured, I can count my own calories so I don't need it...yeah, that didn't work.  I need a place where I can enter my daily intake so I can see just how much food I'm consuming on a daily basis.  They also have great recipes so that I can cook healthy meals.  They have dining out guides, and charts to track progress and goals.  Okay, I just reaffirmed my decision to join.

Re: WW

  • good for you! I have a friend who is doing the online (along with her husband) to lose her baby weight.  She's lost 30 and he's lost 40.

I did WW many moons ago, but did the kind where i went it to weigh in, etc.  I lost a little, but I wasn't at the point in my life where I was willing to commit to measuring out food, preparing, etc.  I was still in my young, party every night, and drinking a lot phase.

  • Deb, have you used LiveStrong before?  (Used to be called The Daily Plate).  I used that for the wedding to log and track calories.  It's free and has a huge database of calorie information.

I've debated joining WW before - especially since my work has on-site WW at majorly discounted prices - but I always feel like people will look at me and wonder why I'm joining WW.  I'm not really overweight.  Just need to eat better.  Especially now that I'm getting older and my metabolism is starting to catch up to me. :-)  Not really sure why I care what other people think about me and why I'm there, but it's kept me from joining.

  • Good call! I've contemplated joining many times, and tried to do the method without fully joining (using their point system & converting foods into points based on nutritional value), but I feel like it does not work for me.

I've used Livestrong.com (formerly thedailyplate.com) in the past & have started up again for the new year - it really helps to track everything I consume and meet weekly weight loss goals.

  • in feb (when we have cash/for a bday gift) i am joining the OG weight watchers.  it hink for me it will be better than a website.  i already do sparkpeople and that clearly isn't working.  i need to get weighed in, have physical meetings of support, go check in on the reg, etc.  but yes, i will be joining :)
  • Hmm...I've never heard of Livestrong before.  I'll definately have to check it out.  Thanks for the heads up!

  • i joined WW last January for the wedding...i loved it and will consider joing again after our LO arrives.

i had done WW online before and lost a few pounds...i also did the dailyplate.com prior to joining WW and only lost a few lbs....

going to the meetings made me feel more accountable...i lost 26 lbs before the wedding :-)

you can usually try a meeting for free and then sign up if you want..i was lucky we had a really great leader and good members...good luck!

  • I'm on the free week trial but am more than likely to go forward with paying the upfront costs etc. I lost 30 lbs 6 years ago doing the points plan on my own but I know in the last few months, I've put on some weight so I want to get that off. Do it, Deb - we can be weight loss buddies :)
