A quick update

Having a newborn and a toddler is definitely an adjustment. Jake spent most of the last week ignoring Audrey, he didn't really acknowledge her until Monday this week and has slowly been getting more interest in her and more gentle with her. Only problem is that he is always trying to climb all over me when I'm holding her. He loves bringing me diapers and wipes for the baby and has really been trying to "help" with everything

We had our first Dr. appt on Monday and we had to take Jake in also, because he wasn't feeling well. Jake has another ear infection and is on antibiotics now. Audrey had already passed her birth weight at her 1 week check up and has been sleeping 3-5 hrs at a time at night. So far she has been a very easy baby, easier than Jake ever was as a newborn. I've still had help from my parents now that DH is back at work and I've really needed it with Jake not feeling well. I'm not nervous about having to take care of the two by myself though, I think it'll just take some time for me to figure out how to get things done around the house with two kids, and do simple things like go to the bathroom and shower. I have no plans on trying to take both kids out by myself anytime soon.

I start working again next week too, I'm teaching two online classes this quarter. I'm now thinking I may be completely insane for doing that, but I still wanted to have an income since I don't get any paid maternity leave.

Ok, so I guess that wasn't too quick of an update

Re: A quick update

  • I've been wondering how you've been doing.  It sounds like you've got your hands full for sure.  I hope it gets going a little smoother for you.  I'm so nervous for 2.....

  • Glad things are going well for you, but it does sound like a hand full.  I'm nervous for 2, especially since we've had so long with just 1.  I'm hoping that since he's 4 it will make it a little bit easier.

  • Glad to hear an update! :)    But sorry that Jake isn't feeling well. :(  It's awesome that you have some help though!

I also hope the transition is smooth and you're able to juggle everything - I'm sure you'll do great! :)

  • Thanks for the  update! Sorry to hear about Jake not feeling well.

I too think you are insane for teaching, but I also see where you are coming from on the $$.

Hopefully everything will fall into place soon, and the whole family will be a good schedule.

  • Glad everything is going well! And for the record - K is 3 months old and I still haven't found the right time to shower!! lol.
