State College marriage counselor recommendations?
Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for marriage counselors in the State College or Altoona areas. Going through a bit of a rough patch and don't want to just pick some random schmo out of the phone book. Thanks!
Re: State College marriage counselor recommendations?
I'm sorry, I don't know anybody there...but I wanted to say good luck! Counseling really helps. DH and I went to help deal with some depression he had over being unemployed. It ended up helping us communicate a lot better!
We found ours randomly...I checked on psychology today, they have a find a therapist search tool. Also you can google and see what comes up. I liked what our counselor put as her mission statement. :-)
im not from the area so i cant offer anything specifically, but your employer (or your DH's) should have a list of qualified counselors through your insurance. you could start there.
good luck!
ETA: i know you said you dont want to just pick someone, but having a list to start from might be helpful. everyone is different and therefore requires something different from their counselor than other people. they are conscientious of this and a lot of times they will allow 'consults" until you and your DH find someone who would suit both of you.
