T&Ps are needed

I'm not sure how many of your saw my FB page, but on Monday my bff's 12 year old nephew was hit by a school bus down in Cincy.

He is in critical condition right now.  He had surgery right away Monday to relieve the pressure on his brain. On Monday night/Tuesday morning, he opened his eyes. On Tuesday he was able to squeeze his mom's hand on command and later in the day he was able to move his arms and legs.

Yesterday was a step backwards, as his BP spiked and there was more pressure on his brain.

I haven't got a update from last night or this morning, but I did hear that when his mom reads him all the kinds words that people are posting on his carepage, he squeezes her hand.

If you could, please pray for the entire family, I know they are all going to have a long, tough road ahead of them, but also pray that he continues to stay strong and continues to make forward progress/improvements.

Whats even worse about all this, is that Alex, lives in Cincy with his mom and his dad lives here in Maumee and the dad's wife is pg (not due till March) and they had to leave behind their two littles one to go down and be with Alex.

Re: T&Ps are needed

  • Oh how terrible! :(     Thoughts & prayers are definitely headed their way!!!
Causes that are important to me: Planned Pethood Graham's Foundation NOCC
  • Just got an update:

Today will be a big day for Alex. We met with all of his doctors this morning and they continue to be optimistic.

Alex will be getting a PIC line placed as well as a feeding tube placed. He will also be having more scans to check on the swelling and pressure in his brain. We hope to have him off the ventilator by tomorrow!!!

  • how awful!!   lots of t & p's going out to him and his family
    Kris....I'm finally a Mrs! 10/11/08
  • This breaks my heart and so many T&P's heading their way.  After what happened here (BIL's cousin is the girl who died last year in Sylvania) it hits close to home.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that.

My aunt is a bus driver for Sylvania, and when I told her about Alex, we started talking about your BIL's cousin and my aunt said the driver still hasn't returned to work and doubts she will. Can't say I blame her.

  • I've been thinking of him since you posted. I really hope he is okay & pulls through it! I guess it hits home for me just being that I have an almost 12 year old son and I just can't imagine how doing something "everyday" can have such an unexpected turn. I know that mom needs all the support she can get. So very sad.
  • It is so horrible.  For Morgan it was so horrible.  Her parents are very strong, great people.  They helped with the lessor charges for the driver of the SUV, so the students and bus driver did not have to relive the accident again.  I hope he recovers and I will be praying for him.
  • Many t&p headed their way.
  • Definitely sending them their way!
  • So sad, I read about it on the cincy board, but didn't know you had a connection to him.  T&P.
