Vacationing with a 9 month old

So dh and I are thinking about taking a trip in April. We can go anywhere really as we have 2 free tickets with Southwest. Two places we are considering are Charleston SC and the Florida Keys. We haven't researched hotel prices yet so that may ultimately be a deciding point.

But what I am concerned about is which would be easier and more enjoyable with a 9 month old. Charleston would be more sightseeing, museums, plantations and historical sights while the keys is more relaxing, water, sand, which I'm not to sure mixs well when you include a 9 month old. Dh likes the idea of both places but is leaning towards the Keys.

What do you gals think?

We just took the baby to San Fran for 5 days. She did really good. We did some museums, a tiny hike, sight seeing, plus the 8 hour drive there and back. I think it would depend on your babies temperament, is she easy going and will go just about any where, or will you need more flexibility of unstructed activities? Either way you will have fun. My husband hates to travel so getting him to go anywhere is such a fight...

Charleston sounds awesome but to me, the relaxed atmosphere of the Keys sounds more baby friendly.  But like Ann said, if you've got a pretty mellow baby, she'll probably do great with all the sightseeing and museums in Charleston.  I know Charlie always did well with that stuff.  Now that he's a toddler it's a little more challenging.

L has always done better when there is more going on around her so I would say SC, but like other have said, it depends on the temperament of your baby. We have taken her to Vegas, Mammoth and San Diego, which included just sitting by the lake fishing, sightseeing or going to a baseball game. She adjusted fine to all. My only recommendation is getting a room with a suite. When we shared one room...no one slept.
