What gift would you want people to give you for a housewarming?

Re: What gift would you want people to give you for a housewarming?

  • I wouldn't want something that would infringe too my on my decor if you weren't familiar with it, i.e. a very outdoorsy something or another when my tastes were more modern.
  • A gift card to a home store (Bed, Bath, & Beyond or home improvement store) would be fantastic. There are always a few more things you'd like to have that you ran out of money for.
  • I think the best option is always a gift card, unless you know them really well and know what they need (like family or bff).  One of my favorite gifts though, was a personalized address stamp...very useful and cute.

  • I said useful, but stemware is more of a wedding gift then a housewarming gift in my mind.  I'd also like a plant, but never a scented candle.  Never anything scented or decorative.
  • I don't think that I've ever turned down a bottle of wine or gourmet treats.

and this really is, or should be, the norm, as a housewarming is not, or should not, be a pricey gift giving event. $20 is usually my limit.

  • I didn't vote because there were 2 options I liked...I'm always open to someone giving me a bottle of wine or good liquor!  But a gc would be nice too to get something we may need for the house.
  • I think it depends. If it's a first time homeowner, I might just give them a gift card or ask if there's something they need and get that. If it's not their first home and they have everything, I'd get them wine.
  • First choice: Gift card to TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Home Goods, BB&B, or Home Depot

    Second choice: WINE!

Third choice: I kinda liked the above ideas of a house plant or personalized address labels! :)

    This!

  • If not a gift card, i would opt for something more practical rather than decorative since my taste/decor is quite "picky".  I would consider white candles (unscented) or white williams-sonoma dish towels as practical - can never have to many of those...
