Sending a care package

I need some ideas of what I can send to my friends staying at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Re: Sending a care package

  • Magazines, or a book, those like sudoku or crossword books, pens and pencils, a pack of cards or small card game, Snacks things that will be healthy and keep them feeling not so hungry that are in small packages ( I got so tired of hospital freebies like noodle soups in a package and fake sodas when I was staying a lot in the hospital with my mom, and with my dad for that matter). I am sure there is more that I could tell you but its not coming to me right off....HTH!

  • -  Snacks:  energy bars, crackers, dried fruit, some of your homemade goodies, etc.

    -  Magazines, puzzle books, etc.

    -  Gas card, restaurant gift card, visa gift card, etc.

    -  A journal to write their experiences

    -  Chapstick, hand lotion, etc.

Causes that are important to me: Planned Pethood Graham's Foundation NOCC
  • I was thinking like granola bars, power bars, gum, hard candy, crystal lite packets.

Didn't even think of cards, pens or pencils.

  • Ditto Merin's ideas. I think it's awesome of you to do this for them!
  • All the ideas are great, but please, please, please include a journal if nothing else.  Our friends had a preemie and told us to journal when we have A and I can not tell you how much it helped us.  We were able to check what the doctors were saying.  When she was transferred, we were able to tell the new doctors what all had happened and when (of course the could find it in her chart, but it took much longer for them to look it up).  I really think keeping a journal will help your friends.  Also, maybe something for the room or bed.  We were really tickled when we could come in to find a new little blanket for the top of her incubator or a little toy at the bottom of her incubator on christmas.  So, maybe you could send some little type of angel trinket or something to keep in the room to make it feel less cold and stark.
