Re: Mamie Rocks!

  • You guys are going to stop sending me job dust, aren't you? ; )

  • I won't stop sending you job dust, but I will suggest that maybe you set up a little website/store for graphic and logo design. It might not bring in much money at first, but you've obviously got a knack for it. You could even start it out on ETSY if you wanted -- I could see you selling digital invite designs, business stationary designs, etc.

Just an idea from your friendly neighborhood "life coach" Wink

P.S. - You also don't have to get out of your PJs to do it!

  • SBS, you're the second or third person who's suggested this, but I just don't feel I'm good enough at it to charge people for it. I appreciate the vote of confidence though. :) In the meantime, I'm happy to practice on Nestie blogs.

  • Well, I think you're good enough.

Something to consider, then, when you're bored/not full-time job hunting: start stock-piling random designs you make. Do a wedding invitation for Ms. Josephine Potter and Mr. Pacey J. Whitter. Create a baby announcement for Renessme Carlie Cullen. Design a craft business logo for some ficitional name that I can connect to Little Lion's Life. You know, just as samples. Wink

Once you've got a decent amount of "practice" already saved on your computer, it may be less intimidating to open the ETSY store because you'll already have so many items to upload.

I'm thinking about maybe doing this for myself but my problem is my crafts aren't digital. So I need room to store my stuff as I stock pile items. You just take up hard drive space.

  • Thanks SBS. :)

I've been doing some design work for my friend's wedding, so I'm going to save all of that. If I could I would take a graphic/web design adult ed class and then possibly pursue it with more earnest.

  • You should do it!! I've been meaning to open a design shop on Etsy shop for some time now... for business cards and event invite type stuff, but just never find the time. If you like doing it, I say go for it! Plus then I can live vicariously through you, haha. Let me know, I have a lot of great resources for design inspiration I can share...
