it's great! I really like being handed work that I can work through in the day I'm there. There's no late nights or lingering issues hanging around. I don't have near as much responsibility as before, which takes a huge weight off of my shoulders. I really let the stress and negativity of my last position get me down on a daily basis. I brought it home every night (usually w/ tears) and it hung around on my weekends. the new mag is much more positive and more of a team. very happy!
the new schedule is incredible too. I'm working 9-3 (I don't leave for lunch..my choice..so I can leave earlier) MWF. So for every day I work, I get a day off the next day. It's seriously life changing! I always have time to get caught up with errands, housework, orders and after my off day, I'm ready to have a very structured work day.
Oh, and on Fridays they clean out all the perishables from the test kitchens, so we all get to 'grocery shop'. I got sour cream, beef stock, fresh herbs, tortillas and apple jelly today! That little perk will definitely help out w/ our new, leaner grocery budget.
we're not able to save as much as we were, but we're totally fine financially. so while sometimes I feel like I'm not pulling my weight, I know this is for the better. I have time to keep the house up, keep pinwheel rolling, get workouts in, and keep myself sane. it's 1000x better and I really feel happy and whole again. I can't believe how long I stayed so unhappy and drained in my old position. hooray for a new year and new job!
sorry for the novel. I really just can't believe how great this all turned out. I never could have imagined.
