We are in the process of purchasing a house and our realtor showed us a house in Kannapolis NC. We like the house and the subdivision itself seems fine (it consists of a single street) but the area around it seems off. The subdivision is much nicer than the surrounding neighborhood and the side of town just seems old and tired.
Is anyone familiar with the town and have any feedback? We are considering passing on it because of the area. We basically want to know if Kannapolis is in the process of revamping itself or just a town going slowly downhill.
Thanks.
Re: Kannapolis NC
I live in Concord near Concord Mills Mall.
I would not want to live in Kannapolis. If the research area takes off, I think that will definitely improve things, but it will not be immediate. The areas that are improving are the new Target area, afton village area. Those areas are technically in Kannapolis, but it seems more concord. Downtown Kannapolis is definitely different from that area. It depends where the neighborhood is ... that will affect my answer.
I wouldn't want to live in Kannapolis either, but that's just me. It still has it's mill town atmosphere, which is just not for me. I'm not sure if it'll ever revamp itself.
We have our house listed in Concord and are trying to move into Charlotte b/c we both work in Charlotte, but I'd live in Concord over Kannapolis any day.
We prefer to live in Concord as it would be closer to work (we work in Charlotte as well). So far we have not found any houses in Concord yet.
in that case, no I definitely would not want to live in that area. I would keep looking.
Have you looked around the highland creek area? That is a nice neighborhood in many price ranges.
We looked at Highland Creek and Skybrook but prefer more yard space. It is why we started looking in Cabarrus County because we could get the yard space and the house within our price range.
Have you looked in and around Harrisburg? There's some nice homes in established neighborhoods with decent sized yards. If we ever were in a position that we sold our house uptown, it would be one outer areas of Charlotte I'd seriously consider moving to. GL in your search!
