This has been a very stressful weekend for me. Not so much the weekend part as "the stressor" happened on Thursday. But since it's keeping me awake at night and giving me knots in my stomach, I'm obviously still bothered by the whole situation.
I am being complained on by a parent for asking them to move their car (from the fire lane and blocking the only exit from the parking lot). They say I was rude and unprofessional. I never cursed, raised my voice, hand or finger, I never honked my horn. My principal is making me meet with the parents (at their request).He said I have to. I feel like I'm being bullied into this meeting.
I don't want to, I have no apology to give. I'm bringing my union rep (kinda glad I signed up this year).
So wish me luck that all goes smoothly. Hopefully?

Re: Wish me luck
That's awful. Have you sat down with the union rep and gone over the entire situation? Were there any other witnesses in the parking lot? Bring a pad and paper and TAKE NOTES on what the parent says, so that you can let them talk and respond to each point. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
::vibes:: and good luck.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
I haven't gone over the entire situation with her yet. I did bring a fellow teacher who represents my school at the union meetings to the meeting with the principal. She is the one who contacted the higher up at the union. I tried to call her myself on Friday, but she hasn't gotten back to me.
As for other parents in the lot, I'm sure there were tons (there was a line of 5 cars behind the one I asked to move). But none of them heard the actual conversation. My principal was out there and I asked him to have the cars move so I could get out but he suggested guiding my car out between the curb and other cars instead. I narrowly got out (I'm talking inches between cars).
That sounds like a situation that was taken completely overboard. In our "kiss and go" area we have to ask parents to move all of the time. Best of luck!
I am sorry to hear you are dealing with this! I am glad that you did get your union rep involved. Your having to meet with the parents does seem a bit extreme. I would be disappointed that your principal did not step up and take care of this. We have the same problem with parents parking and blocking buses and the fire lane.
Good luck! **hugs** Let us know how it goes!
