Miss America Party Menu

So, I'm normally a lurker, but really need help planning a menu for the Miss America party I'm hosting this weekend. I've got the theme covered with score cards, tiaras, and white sashes to give ourselves made-up titles but am having food issues.I had planned on doing cocktails and appetizers, but can't think of anything to serve other than pink vodka martinis. (Priorities, right?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and at least some of the apps should be vegan friendly since one of my friends and I are vegans.

Thanks!

Re: Miss America Party Menu

  • Fun and thanks for the reminder.  I love watching the pageant.

    Here are some options:

    -Baked stuffed mushrooms

    -Bruschetta

-Veggie platter with hummus and vegetable dip

-Cheese and cracker platter garnished with fruit

-Potato bites - my friend takes the small red potatoes, cuts them in half and scoops a little out of the center; stuffs them with ground italian sausage and sprinkles with chives and cheese. I can get the recipe if you like that, although it's clearly not vegan.

-Spring rolls (I'd check out whole foods to see if they have some vegan-friendly options, if not here's a recipe. )

    -Proscuitto and melon

    -Crab cakes

    -Olive tapenade and crackers

-Vegetarian stuffed grape leaves with tzatziki on the side

    -Shrimp cocktail

  • If the actual contestants were invited, I'd suggest a buffet of water and laxatives!  Skinny, gorgeous biatches!  :)

Realistically though....  How about cute little cut out cookies in the shape of dresses or crowns?  They have wedding dress cookie cutters that would be perfect.  Get some sparkly sprinkles and you are ready for formal wear!

You could do regional based food, and have cards next to them with the state they represent - such as mini po-boys (Louisiana) , California rolls (duh), and pinapple skewers (Hawaii).

Sounds like a fun party! Have a great time!

  • These are awesome ideas! It's great to get some new input; I feel like I always make the same things.

    Thanks, ladies!!
