So how was your trip? I hope you get some time to post about it and share some pictures!

Re: ***StefandTodd***

  • Butting in to say I was going to ask the same thing!  Can't wait for a recap!
  • Hi guys!!  Our trip was great, we had such a wonderful time.  The weather completely cooperated...was definitely cold, but not unbearable at all.  Our apartment in Paris was totally awesome...so awesome that we decided to stay one extra night there before heading to Geneva.  We had an unfortunate mishap (*cough* husbands fault *cough*) that led to us missing our train to Geneva and spending an entire day in the train station in Paris, thus we lost out on two of our 4 days in Switzerland...but those 2 days we did have in Switzerland, we stayed in a luxurious hotel with the most incredible views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps...it was so nice, we ordered room service for dinner one night there, and slept in super late.  We have vowed to most certainly return to Switzerland within the next 5 years.  It was dreamy.

I wrote in my journal every night detailing what we did, and just downloaded my photos over the weekend - hoping to do some blogging about the trip soon...just have been super busy getting back into the grind, etc.  I'll post here to let everyone know the posts are up when they're there!

Thanks for asking, hope you guys had very Happy New Year celebrations!!

  • Sounds great! Well, minus the train situation, but unfortunately stuff like happens. I had a friend that was in Paris too and she uploaded her pictures on FB yesterday. It looked so cold but she was just very bundled up, ear muffs and all.

I've heard such great things about Switzerland and it looks so gorgeous! Can't wait to hear more and see your pictures!

  • Yeah, I'm probably blocking out how cold it was ;)  I had a hat and scarf on everywhere we went, and there were definitely times that I'd say, "okay, it's worth the $12 it'll cost to duck into a cafe for coffee and a treat!!!" just to get out of the cold.  But then it was warm enough (to me) that when I wore tights under my jeans, I got too warm.  With walking a bunch and ducking in and out of places, it wasn't as bad as it could've been.  I was just glad we didn't get any rain or snow while there.  For sure, waiting in line for the Eiffel Tower, etc (basically, not walking/moving, being outside in one place....which didn't happen often) was bitter cold, but the bulk of our trip was okay with the right ear and neck covering goods :)

  • When I was there in October it was cold so it scares me to think of traveling in the winter! But like I admitted before, I didn't prepare properly for it being the cold. Silly me. We were going to just walk the stair portion of the Eiffel Tower, but after much thought realized that would feel really cold after awhile with the wind. Also, we read there were over 700 stairs and that just sounded like too much. We hiked the stairs at other attractions and 300-400 got tiring and dizzying. Anyway, we decided it was worth a few extra Euro to use the elevator to stay warm and save our feet.
