Oh help. Like I told the poster below, it's so much easier to look at someone else's menu! And I am way too close to this one - I've been planning this party for months and have done and redone the menu half a dozen times and now it's just a muddled mess.
At first I thought I'd do a regular dinner that was perch-able with main and sides. Then I decided it'd be much more festive to do heavy hors d'oeuvres and that's how I ended up with the disjointed list below.
App-apps
Caramelized onion and green apple on puff pastry
Fig jam and goat cheese bruschetta (these top two seem to conflict to me, but they both look like divine recipes)
Tomato-bacon-swiss tartlets (these don't seem to fit in, but they're tried and true and people devour them)
Mushroom pinwheels (I had leftover ingredients on NYE, so these are already made and in the freezer)
Veggies with herb dip
Stuffed cherry tomatoes
Pommes Annette (a Martha Stewart recipe for mini potato stacks)
Olive tray (because I got an olive boat for Christmas that I've wanted for years and I'm using it lol)
Main-apps
Pork tenderloin on rolls (I have 11 lbs of it in my freezer - I'm serving it!)
Shrimp cocktail
Roast beef crostini
Sweets
Hazelnut mini cheesecakes
Coconut macaroons
What would you change? I've thought of stuffed mushrooms, mini quiches, toasted pecans... There's bread in 6 of the recipes above and some form of cheese in 5. (Before you all go off, there are no dietary issues, and 6, several of the recipes are from Cooking Light )
Re: Yet another menu
Hold your breath- I think it sounds fantastic.
IF you want to add a main app, chicken in phyllo cups would be easy. I'd probably put out some Hershey's kisses too. The kisses are just me though, I like one bite of chocolate after I eat.
I too would add an additional sweet...some form of bar cookie (lemon squares, dream bars).
Thanks, girls.
I know this crowd, I've entertained them in various forms a few times, and they're not big sweets eaters. I won't take the effort and expense to make something else, but a little bowl of kisses would be cute.
So the other 40-something people who've viewed this post, the silent ones, yall really think this menu works?
And 6, yes, I just about fell off the sofa

Tomato-swiss tartlets (passed around and around our circle, no idea where they originated lol)
1 small can Pillsbury Grands biscuits (the half can)
2c grated swiss
1 can rotel, drained
1/2c bacon bits
2 tbsp basil
1 tbsp chopped green pepper
1/2 tsp celery salt
1c mayo
-- Tear biscuits into small, thin pieces and work to fit in mini muffin tin. Add filling. Bake at 375 for 8-10 mins. Makes 24 (the number of cups in my mini tin and all 24 were gone within 15 minutes of being put out - they're really good). My Pinterest
