Does anyone have a kindle or a nook? I'm thinking about getting one for DH for his birthday, but can't decide. DH loves to read, but I'm wondering if he would use a nook, or if he would still pick up paper books.
Do you find that you use it on a semi-daily basis, or just for travel?
Re: Kindle/Nook
I have a Nook (3g classic, not color). I love it. I still buy books that I really want to own, but it's actually a lot more comfortable to read on the noon - I don't have to shift around, I don't have to worry about turning pages, etc. I know those are stupid little problems, but curling up with my nook is just sooo comfortable.
To be honest, I hadn't expected to love it because I really love paper books. The e-ink technology is amazing, though (that's one reason I went with the classic and not the color one...the color one is a normal screen, and the glare gives me a headache...the second reason is that the battery life on the color one is something like 8 hours, and the classic is a week or so), and it's so nice to be able to have a bunch of books with me whenever I want them. There are quite a few free books, too.
I use it almost every day, which is slightly more frequently than I was reading paper books. I tend to pick up my nook even if I only have 5 minutes to kill - even sitting in the car while DH was pumping gas the other day.
I have a LookBook - it's an offbrand e-reader. I LOVE it. I don't think I will ever buy another paper book again. It's so convenient to have all my books on the e-reader - I can take them all everywhere I go.
ETA I use mine on a daily basis.
It's an offbrand so I'm assuming it's cheaper. It was a gift, so I have no idea how much it cost.
I want an ereader but I don't want to spend that much $$, but maybe I am going to have to?
This - If I had known that the local library had downloadable books on a format that other ereaders could use, I may not have purchased a Kindle.
I LOVE my kindle, and use it every night.
I've been reading a lot of self-help books lately, and like that I can read them in public, and no one else knows what i'm reading.
I'm curious how much you've found yourself buying books versus getting them from the library? Does the KDL process go smoothly? (I'd have to use the Lakeshore version though, but also more Nook friendly.) How much do you spend on e-books versus when you only read real books?
Also, nearly all of my "reading" happens via audio books on CD in the car right now. What I really want is an e-reader that I can plug in & have it play audio without having to get a separate file (basically software reading the page is how it works in my head). Has anyone heard of anything like this? Then I could listen in the car, look at the device to read during lunch, & have it start up in the right place in the car again in the afternoon. Am I just dreaming?
