PW... C25K Ladies

Okay, I'm gearing up to begin.  But my question is, what do you do on the other days?

Right now, I'm on the treadmill atleast 5 days a week if not more.  My thought is to do the program the 3 days and then supplement the other days with just some walking on the treadmill, maybe doing some incline work, so that once I start outdoors in the spring, I'll be better equipped to handle the hills around here.

Re: PW... C25K Ladies

  • I haven't been doing anything so far because I believe my body needs the rest.  Once I run my first 5k I plan on running 3 days a week and strength training 2 days a week.  You should mix it up so that your legs aren't going every day.  If you feel like you want to try and do something then work on your upper body and do some crunches.
  • Crunches?!?!  Lady, I just started running, do you want my body to go into shock?!!?  LOL.

Actually, I'm glad you mentioned the upper body stuff, because I do need to work on that for hunting.  The shotgun and the bow get pretty heavy in my arms after awhile.

  • Your core is essential to running.  No one says you have to do 200.  Start with 3 sets of 5 or something like that.
  • I did the 30 day shred in between.

I agree though, your core & strength training should be done on the inbetween days. Definitely give yourself some days to rest though too! You don't want to over work yourself!

  • I am starting again today.  I will be doing kickboxing Monday and Wed, walking/running Tuesday, Thursday and Sat, off Friday and Sunday.

  • Good Luck Jamie!!  I wish we had a gym that I could join to do some classes.  But maybe i'll set up the dvd player in the guest room or see what's available that I can DVR.

Thanks ladies ;).  I've also got to get better with my stretching.  I'm "okay" but one of DH's aunts told me that I should stretch as much as I think I need to and then keep going.

    LIKE! :)

  • I do the bike, elliptical, or 30 day shred. Sometimes I do 30 day shred just for the weights and abs but skip the cardio parts. Make sure you take at least 1 day where you do nothing. :)

     You are my hero.

  • I need to start doing this again! I seem to get to week 4 and give up because I feel like I cant run for long periods of time without my knee hurting.

  • When I did C25k, I actually didn't do anything on my off running days.  Embarrassed  The plan I'm following for the 8k program I'm doing now has me doing strength training two times a week and cardio two times a week in addition to the three days of running. I've been getting all of it in except for one of the cardio days lately.
