How much paid time off do you get?

Re: QOTD

  • A lot.  We have about 7 weeks in the summer, about 10 days at Christmas, a week in February, and a week in April.  I also have three personal days, three professional days (for courses/workshops), and twelve sick days a year (that I rarely use more than two or three of...I have 62 sick days built up from the last six years).  It is a pretty good deal really, though I am never going to make tons of money either, so it is a bit of a trade off I guess.

  • Umm, stat holiday's, the week between Christmas and New Years and I think I'm up to 13 days vacation.

We're also allowed to take sick days off w/ pay within reason.  You need a doctors note for anything more than 3 days in a row, but there isn't really a limit to the number of days you can take off sick (with pay).

  • Two weeks vacation (which we earn throughout the year; we don't start off with the time) and one week of sick (also earned). Sick expires at the end of the year (annoying) and vacation can carry over. The plus is that there are no questions asked as to how sick time's used. We also get all the federal holidays and official early dismissals.
  • I get 25 vacation days, plus we have 8 stat holidays here (9 this year thanks to the Prince's wedding!  Woohoo!).  I don't know if there's a limit to the number of sick days, but taking a sick day with pay has never been an issue for me.  We also get 5 paid "emergency" days.

  • I get 16 days of PTO (that encompasses both vacation and sick time). I also get most federal holidays and 1 flex holiday.

  • I get 11 holidays, 24 vacation days, and 25 sick days per year. I can use additional paid sick days if needed because I donated time to the sick bank, but really, I am rarely too sick to come in to work and generally use 0-3 sick days per year.

I am technically a state employee and now you can understand why my state is broke.

  • I get 5 weeks PTO, plus a week carried over from last year, plus 10 holidays, plus 5 sick days (that can be used for family illness too).  The bad news?  We're too busy to take any time off.  I'll probably get my first day off on Good Friday.

  • My rate right now is 1.25 days/month = 15 days. There are also 10 statutory holidays + 1 university holiday in the summer, and I'm also off when the university closes for 2 weeks at Christmas & New Year. So I guess that adds up to about 7 weeks.

  • We get ten hours of annual leave each month, so 3 three weeks a year, plus nine Federal holidays and we are closed the week between Christmas and New Year's.  Leave is basically use it or lose it; you can carry 24 hours forward in to the next year.

We only get five sick days per year, which sucks big time.  It is really hard to accrue any kind of sick leave balance, even though you can build it up to 720 hours.  I've been here a little over three years and don't even have a week's worth banked.

  • I get 30 days per year of leave...I have 70+ days if that tells you how often I actually get the chance to take it.  Plus, we get all federal holidays and one or two training holidays per month, which amounts to one 3 or 4 day weekend a month.  We don't really have sick days, if you don't feel well, you have to go to sick call and the doctor may, or may not, give you quarters for a set period of time depending on the illness.  For surgeries you get convalescent leave based on what type of surgery and the doctor's recommendation.  Basically, you get the time that you need for recovery.

  • Two weeks at Christmas

    One week in March

Stat holidays (if they fall on a weekday)

July 1st-the first Monday after Labour Day

And I get 20 sick days a year. I *think* I'm supposed to get a doctor's note if I'm off for more than 3 consecutive days, but I don't know for sure. It's a PITA, because I think I want to take tomorrow off, but my doctor is currently on mat leave and they haven't hired a replacement for her. Instead they're booking her patients with other doctors in the practice, and the soonest they can get me in is the 24th. Obviously, this doesn't help me at all. I do NOT want to sit for 3 hours in the walk-in clinic for the purpose of getting a note from someone who doesn't know me, you know? Especially since the last time I went, the doctor told me that my UTI infections were being caused by my husband having an affair. (Uhm, what?)

So... do I ask my VP what to do and risk being told that I have to do it? Or do I just beg forgiveness after the fact? I let her know yesterday that there was a good possibility that I'd need the rest of the week off...

  • I am a teacher so we get the standard Thanksgiving, Christmas Break, MLK Day, President's Day, a week off after Easter for Spring Break (plus Good Friday) and Memorial Day. This year we had a random week off the first week of November. Normally we would only get the first Thursday and Friday off to attend the NJ Teacher Convention.

Besides these days I am entitled to 10 sick and 2 personal days. I never use my sick time since it is so hard for me to plan for a sub thanks to the wonderful curriculum we have.

  • I get all the standard Holidays that Mandee mentioned, and then I get 3 floating holidays and 23 Paid Time Off (PTO) days on top of that which is considered sick/vacation.  We can roll over up to 5 PTO days annually. This was my first year that I didn't have the full 5 to roll over.

  • Not enough Sad

We observe 9 holidays. We also get 10 days of vacation leave, 4 sick days and 2 personal days. My company does not allow for leave without pay for ANY reason.

  • Standard Holidays and 2 weeks PTO a year. I think in a year it will double or something like that.

  • Not a whole lot as far as I'm concernced. I get 10 days of vacation and 10 days of sick time. We are able to carry it over from year to year up to 240 hours, but right now I'm down to 80 hours of sick time and 30 hours of vacation time. I'm trying to save as much as possible for maternity leave. We also get paid days for most of the standard federal holidays.

  • None Crying

I'm a temporary part time employee so I get no vacation time and no sick days.  I do get stat holidays but they usually make me work half of them.  I'm really hoping this pays off in the end.

  • In London I got 25 vacation days and unlimited sick days, plus state holidays - I think there were 9?

I don'g have a job here yet, but there are 28 public holidays a year.  WHAT.  UP.  No wonder the country is so poor, no one ever works.

    Now jumping domestically.

Well that was a crazy couple of years.
