Crockpot help

Can I fill the crock with food and store it in the fridge overnight then place it in the heating element the next morning? I googled and have seen many different answers. I am worried that the crock may crack or some people said you could get sick since it's not airtight. Has anoyone done this?

I do this all the time.  I don't have time to prepare in the am so I do it before bed.

You can always use plastic wrap in the crock if you're concerned about the lid not being air tight. Just remember to take it off before cooking

i've done this, i usually put press & seal or saran wrap then the cover. i take it out of the fridge right when i get up and then turn the crock pot on right as i'm leaving so that the insert isn't as cold. that may be unnecessary but i do it anyway.

This. I did read somewhere that you are supposed to let it sit for a few minutes when you take it out of the fridge before you turn it on. Something about shocking it.
